Clue: Guy stealing French fries said he hates quotas? (4-6)
Answer: Free-trader
OK, I know a free-trader hates quotas, but where does the stealing French fries bit come from?
(This is from the Daily Mail on Jan 11th)

free trader sounds like "frite - raider" (said in the clue indicates "sounds like")

freet -French fries and raider (sounds like) if you get what I mean.

Said indicates sounds like . Frite Raider- guy who steals French fries?

OK, I've got it, guys. Thank you. Pretty poor clue, though, eh?

I've seen a lot worse - it works well enough , straightforward wordplay with a common 'sounds like' indicator and a definition that you certainly knew even if I didn't. :-)
