Cork comes from a certain part of the tree and there's a type of ship with the same name.

I once went to my local South London pub (a long time ago) just after it had been redecorated. One wall had been covered in cork tiles. It looked nice, so I complimented the barmaid.

"Yes" she said "but it's not real cork - they made it from the bark of trees."

Ha ha ChrisE!

I've never spelled the name of the ship like that but I've checked and it is an alternative spelling.
