46D - Wine-producing area almost too brilliant (6) ?L?A?E. Has to be ALSACE but how does this parse?

Too means als(o).
Brilliant is ace

I struggled to parse this one - all I could come up with was:

ALL'S ACE means (kind of) too brilliant - take out an L and the apostrophe leaves ALSACE

I will watch this post to see if anyone comes up with something better!

That's the only way could parse it but it's not great.

Seems fine to me.
