12d talent show runner keeps dressing up. Two words "p?p ?d?l". Seems to be pop idol which is/was a talent show but I cant parse it. Dip could, I suppose, be "dressing" up but the rest of the clue defeats me as I cannot connect runner with either pool or loop. Any suggestions, please?

I think it refers to a loop when used as a running knot, like in a lasso etc.
