........and Merry Christmas to you, Andy.

Has the island been as affected by the follow-up rain as Cumbria has?

No, well certainly nowhere nearly as bad as Cumbria....but the place is soaking wet and we've got very high winds again...they seem to be incessant. I have a particular Rowan tree in the garden which looks as though it might uproot and fall I'm keeping an eye on it...just a few days dry weather would help.

andy, I have been reading how many merchant ships were lost round the island in WW1, sunk by submarines. It was kept out of newspapers for reasons of morale upkeeping. Usually no warning was given and no rescue attempted.

Hi Rosalind, some believe we still get regular visits with fishing boats being towed backwards and losing their nets for apparent reason.

Happy Christmas to you and yours.
