I have a completed initial grid and what I think are the 9 words - beginning with b (x 2), c, e, p, r, t (x 2) and v ? - that need to be returned to the preamble. I am also assuming the returned letter will pluralise those words where appropriate and there are 9 letters which give the sequence to follow to reach the final grid. However, I am baffled as to which returned words go with the numbers in the preamble. Has anyone got any hints that could help me please ?

I,too, have a full grid but have so far only identified 6 misplaced words beginning with (in order)B,E,T V, P and R. I have 9 misplaced letters which all seem to be directions

Nine words are PVBTRBTSE. The extra letter is in one of the across clues.

Am I to assume those are 1 to 9 in order and the single letter is 10? Thanks

They are in order but the single letter would occupy position 3. Sorry, I should have put it as PV (single letter) BTRBTSE
