A couple I cant parse. 13d: Baptists husband turning to one couple. 4 letters-presume its John?. Also 27d Went on bender briefly drinking French boxers place. 6 letters-presume it is kennel? Any suggestions please?

Is "in" part of 27?
Knel(t) with en/in inside.

Drinking 'in' not 'taking' but parse is the same

I think "in " should be part of the clue?

I have the paper. Clue has "drinking in French"
