This week's seems rather more puzzling than has been the case of late - I'm stuck on several, & would welcome any assistance.

I suspect that some of the letters suggested below may be erroneous.

8D - High toxicity fat here. There's a councillor looking into it? (4, 6)
C?T? F?T?E?
11D - Taking poorly? then worse: cause of the upset? (5, 6)
G?A?T ?I?????
&
41D - Engineer does poetry mornings (8)
?S?M?A??

Some help with these irritants may aid me in my struggles with the remainder.

Thanks in advance

11d GIANT KILLER. Anagram of TAKING, poorly ILL and being worse than ill ILLER. All together makes the answer.

Thanks to everyone for the speedy replies

Couldn't see CITY FATHER for looking & should be deeply ashamed at not getting ISAMBARD. Not entirely convinced that ILLER is a genuine word (surely "more ill"?) but, again, I should have seen it.

I'll now wrestle on.

I still think some of this week's clues were very odd, though.
