Ah ok. We'll, the answer is pregnant. The way I thought of it was 'pre' from before, 'gn' from say GoodNight, and your disheartened aunt is remove the 'u' to make 'ant'. Pregnant :) makes sense in my head, but then again, I made it, so it would.

In crossword convention, disheartened aunt would be AT.

I see, in my head I thought the 'your' might help suggest it's just the 'u' to be taken out. This is why I came to you guys. I never realised there were so many rules in these little cryptic clues :)

That's much better, even I can see how that one works :) helps when you already know the answer, but still. The last thing I want is for her to look at it every day and spend hours struggling to work it out.
