philip glass wrote a symphony called 'Heroes'

Heroes ?

girl's = girl is = her + OnES (leading individuals but not N(umber)

I presume that the 28 means it is a 'symphony' related clue.

Hi there and thanks for all your help. I've even managed to work out the wordplay for 11a - 'epidemic' minus 'idem' - ('the same') = epic.

Thanks again.
