Rusty.....I've gone for Brandon Grace 33/1 and Sergio again, don't know why, at 35/1 in the HSBC and Graham DeLaet 28/1 and Jonas Blixt 40/1, once again, don't really know why, in the Sandersons. I agree with your nomination of Sonny Bill. What a great gesture. Another sporting hero is Danny Mullins, the jockey. You must use You Tube again to see his heroics. It was a race meeting at Roscommon, and as the leaders jumped a fence, another jockey, Jody McGarvey and his mount hit the fence hard and left him dangling out of the saddle. Mullins jumped alongside and reached over to help him back in the saddle. It doesn't sound much, that's why I said have a look on the Tube. It also was pretty heroic....at the moment I'm trying to work out some jumpers to follow for the NH season....be lucky.

Hello, Albie!
I have seen Danny Mullins rescue mission!
Hope you get a return on your bet.
I have a small e/w wager on Rickie Fowler, in China, this week.
Paddy P is paying out on the first 5. I have no idea what the course is like, but it is on Sky from tomorrow.
I am reading "Mince Pie for Starters" by the late John Oaksey just now. Some great racing tales in it.

Rusty......that's a good omen you have given me. You mentioned John Oaksey, and through the post today came the IJF Xmas catalogue. I know you know the connection....one of us will hit Mr. Power this week-end.

Rusty.....very sad news about the passing of Pat Eddery. Only 63....a great horseman and a very nice man by all accounts. Do you remember Dancing Brave in the Arc?....

That came as a shock, Albie!
A young man and he was a smashing jockey in his day.
I remember the Arc with Dancing Brave.
Report said he had been ill for some time.
Any idea what was up with him?

No Rusty, I have only heard what you said, that he'd been ill for a while. He was another jockey associated with Vincent O'Brien, as well as the famous team of Peter Walwyn and Khaled Abdullah. I had At The Races on this afternoon, and it was inundated with tributes to him, also the old footage of lots of his big winners...Grundy, Pebbles, Golden Fleece etc...very sad indeed.

Albie, if you log on to the Sporting Life, racing section, there is a big bit all about Pat Eddery.
Tributes from AP, Lester Piggott, etc.
He was held in great esteem by the horsey world!

Thanks Rusty....I'll have a look at that obit....I've just got back in after visiting Uncle Bill. Somethings locked in my head about Garcia, so I've stood for him again in the BMW Masters. Also had Charles Howell and Brendan de Jong in the OHL Classic, plus a patent on 3 jumpers this afternoon. I'm trying to get some Xmas money. Don't forget your cards....I sent off for mine today....be lucky.

Albie, just heard on RTE that it was alcoholism to blame for Pat's death. Poor lad!
