I wondered about 'nervy' as in Roy !

4a) what a customer is and where he/she puts their purchases
6d) think anagram of argus for second word
19a) you will be 'tired' thinking of this answer
12d) fancy name for someone dealing with agriculture

I have nervy for 24 across meaning aflutter and like a pigeon (8 across)

nirly is a scots word for stunted

Thanks, Bruce, I looked that up but can' t see the connection with the clue "Like 8"

Nirly meaning stunted would tally if the answer to 8across were cropped, past tense, but I have cropper for 8 across (clue Pigeon farmer)

Think Roy Cropper was a nerd, therefore nerdy?
