Thanks AJT, I just got back, brilliant. Teem gives T the first letter of Judges spare an OK neighbour (6). Could it be thinks?
I've only got a couple of answers so far in this crossword so need all the help I can get.
How about 1 Across ?

Hello Arlene - I've never done the Listener crossword, and after this thread I printed it, and had a look at it. "Thinks" seems fine to fit the "spare OK neighbour" but what about the change of letter? The only other 3 I got were 11, 29 and 42 d. Any Help? I'll go on looking

anniec and AJT thanks, weak spot spot on, tho I think the'pot' part is the bet with w-e and ask, just brilliant. I have what you have AJT except for 42d, and I also have 13a.

2d looks like like entia but why?

Entia is an anagram of "in tea". 42 d is also an anagram "doctor does" = dose.

Thanks again AJT, I understood the anagram but what definition does it meet in the clue? I can't come up with any variation of boss that means entia. Thanks for 42d too.

The only thing I can come up with is "bods" instead of "boss" - but the more I think of it, the more I believe that's it! It is a word in Chambers, as a person

think 1D could be "wisdom"

Thanks for that Ixion - I thought "wisdom" but couldn't make "mags" anything intelligible.

I hope I'm not breaching copyright, but here comes another clue - there are no black squares in this crossword so some letter combinations can be excluded.
