4 down: What's vice to Bill? The bloody obvious failure to be self-serving. ???r?i?m. Looks like "altruism" which fits second part of clue but why is it so worded and what does it have to do with vice and Bill?

9 across: Embraced by pain in the neck, subjected to a shagging - most ugly. ???i?e?t. The second letter is the same as second letter of 4 down (see above) if that helps.

These have me really stumped, can anybody out there help, please?
