I had the N in your first too, but it's wrong.
I didn't like the "projections" in the other, but there isn't much you could pit North Carolina inside.

I thought of that tool but can't see where projections comes into it!
As for the four letter word since the 'n' is wrong(because I just guessed the answer-never wise) I'm now at a loss over the bad weather!

Am I alone in thinking that the word in 11 across is both a somewhat flaky meaning for snub and in the wrong tense?
