One letter of the theme took me a long time to discover until I realised one answer had an alternative spelling. But i have the theme and have a rough idea of what has to be done but can't see where to do it. Is it possible to give a nudge without giving the whole game away?

escuan, if you have the theme, then try looking for a common synonym of the last word in the grid...

I'm still stuck trying to identify all of the extra letters. I have 10 but they don't spell out anything obvious. Could anyone help? Am I looking for real words?

You're looking for a two word phrase : the first word is a surname so it may very well not be familiar.

can someone please help me
I can see the vegetables and the 6 letter word to be removed all diagonal in grid, but cannot see the word to change assume its nearer to one of the vegetables

Leon - have another look at the preamble. It does not say to REMOVE a word. Also look up DEMOLISH in Chambers, for a relevant meaning.
