24a. At solo whist, they're lost if you win! (7) - DI?ERES

I can't find any words that fit the letter pattern let alone match a definition, but I'm fairly sure the letters I've given are correct - All help greatly appreciated.

Thanks Mattrom, that must be it, it's not a word I've ever come across before.

The 'D' came from - 24d. Many a complicated issue means waste (6) and believe it or not I'd actually put in MISUSE, but changed it do DISUSE when I couldn't find any words to fit. Thanks again.
