P.S Aristo - now I remember - I got thrown by mrw's split in the anagram. Does anbody know whether there are any conventions for such a device?

We have sixteen setters. With five votes to go, mrw is in the lead with five.

rosalind: Yes, I've now run out of daughters; we've had three weddings within two years. Just a son still unhitched. Again, I don't know what I was thinking. :)

paul: I think it's perfectly acceptable. You could have something like: Mix flour and water into runny scrap (7,3). I figured it was the "and" that threw you off.

I wasn't familiar with it either, chrise; I made it up. But I can picture it too.

I had somehow neglected to tally a vote. Only chiaroscuro left now- a tie-maker or deal-breaker.
