Hi, I am a new member. I have just done an old easy xword I came across, so I had the answers. Can someone explain this to me please? 'Anne meeting Queen, originally born less well off'. Answer 'needier'. I get the nee and the er, but the di? and how does Anne come into it?

The only wild stab I have is that 'Di' is a diminutive of 'Dianne'.

But I don't like it.

It may be that "die" is the Anne part.
"R" being queen.
At a loss, though, so far.

I think it is an error and it should read Dianne rather than Anne and then the parsing would make sense

Yes.
A girl called Dianne, often shortened to Di?
That works.
Not the best clue ever, though.

Well, thanks to you all for your suggestions. My thoughts were the same as yours, so I am glad that the fault would appear to lie with the compiler, or printer, and not with me!
