rossim: I would "like" one of those mugs !

Elle: At the bottom of the box where you post your comment (on facebook and also on youtube and other sites) there is a small icon called "like" (looks like a "thumbs up" ) You click on it if you like a comment or picture that someone has posted.

Elle, I am not on Facebook either, but I have heard of clicking on something one "likes".
Bound to be in Chamber's soon, if not already!
There is a wee Facebook logo thing in the top right hand corner of my screen, on this page stating 4.4k.
I have no idea what this represents, perhaps someone could enlighten us?

The blue box on this site is a "facebook like" for those who like this forum. So far 4.4 thousand users have "liked".

I would take that figure with a pinch of salt, Jazzgirl.
I have clicked on there MANY a time to see if anything happened, out of curiosity!
Would it not be a good idea if this thread continued on Norah's thread?

Rusty, I've never even noticed that logo on this page before - how very unobservant of me!!
Jazzy, thank you for the explanation....so clicking on 'like' is simply a commendation?
Like saying 'hear, hear'!

When you click on it, it registers just the once. So the figures cannot be manipulated. If you click again, nothing happens. So the figures are correct. You can also "unlike" by clicking on the box once it has shown a "tick".

No problem with this thread. It is just a general enquiry which is fine.

Rusty, I just tried clicking on it...but a window came up and you have to log in to your Facebook account. Neither you nor I are on Facebook, so that would be why you didn't get a result!
