Good evening, Elle!
Um, I would not know which to suggest.
The ones I mentioned were excellent, in my view.
There is lots of history in Chesapeake.
I think my over all favourite is Centennial.
It was made into a successful TV mini-series some years ago.
Many strong characters in it.
Clay Basket, Pasquinel, Alexander McKeag.
Lots whose names I cannot recall.
Richard Chamberlain played the main part.
Centennial was the name of a town in Colorado.
But, for you, there are some great stories in Tales of the South Pacific and Return to Paradise(inc Until They Sail)
You won't like all of them, but there are many grand tales there.
There was a bit about Eilidh in my paper.
Blog is updated!

Eirlys!
Thank you for that!
You have restored my sanity!
This is indeed how the Leader board SHOULD work!
But...........that isn't in fact what is happening!

All week, names have been coming........and going!
They ended up with three names tonight, instead of the five portrayed on your link!
Never has the Leader board had the right combination of names!
and Jeremy never seems to notice!

If you cannot believe this, look in!

The three names should be Gareth, Marianne and Ian ? They are the ones with the most number of points in total

Hi, Rusty!
I guess I am spoiled for choice!
Thank you for your suggestions.... ...I am generally not very keen on short stories, preferring a full length novel or saga.
So perhaps I will go for one of longer ones, either Centennial or Chesapeake.
I shall look on Amazon and see what is available.
The link that Eirlys provided confirms my scoring of this week's Egghead contestants!
I'm still wondering why that isn't what is happening on the programme though!
"Curiouser and curiouser" as Alice said!
I have just read the updated blog - we were correct in our assumption that the second female had left on her long journey.
The male is seemingly still crying out for fish to be brought to him!
"Dad" will have to stand firm and encourage him to fend for himself - or he will never survive on his own.
We haven't eaten yet....we decided it was too hot earlier..... but time is marching on...I think it might well be a ham or cheese salad!
Certainly something cold and light!

Hello, Elle,
Well, knowing what I know now, my first choice would be Centennial.
It is a more continuous story, starting with the dinosaurs, then on to Lame Beaver of the Arapaho, and the French trappers.
A lot of the story takes place in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, with the Mennonites.
It comes right up to the present day, or to when the book was written.
The research for historical accuracy is impressive.
It is a great read. Over 900 pages.

Elle, if you decide to buy it, it is cheaper on eBay rather than Amazon.
