Hi, Rusty!
Sorry, don't know what happened there!
I'll try again!

There is also a lot of controversy in the News today about the GB cycling team having won so many medals at Rio.
I have been reading this morning that other competitors are now questioning how GB has so "lifted its game" from previous standards, so as to pull off so many Gold (and other) medals.
Other cyclists are saying that they find the GB success "questionable".
Laura Trott is quoted as saying she finds their attitudes "frustrating"!
I wonder whether this will be taken seriously - or if it will be put down to "sour grapes"?
Why can nothing be straightforward and simple?

Hi elle
If I was Laura Trott (some chance!) I would find the attitude infuriating. Do you think that the sour grapes lot are hinting at drugs, or little engines? Surely those grounds are covered. And they must have noticed it wasn't just the cyclists......
Isn't it due to far better funding and more determination?
I'm sure you know the Oscar Wilde quotation "The truth is rarely pure and never simple".Though I think that's just a bon mot.

I was giving the strawberries a haircut and then some food and water, 12-1pm today. Maybe a bit mad?

accuweather just now said it would rain here in 116 minutes. Fat chance!

Hello, Elle.
Yes, I have read some of the comments.
I would put my shirt on Trotty being clean.
I would not be surprised at some Team GB members being on drugs though.
It has happened before and may happen again.
British Cycling has a non stop flow of talent coming through the ranks and if the seniors appear to be treading water, they are out, as happened with Romero, Houvenhagel, King, Varnish, Dame Sarah, etc.
They are utterly ruthless in their pursuit of excellence.
The success has been attributed to Lottery funding and finding great coaches and back up teams for the riders.
If they are successful the funding is increased.
Seems to work?
The only surprise to me is that Australia has not closely followed them.
Trotty should concentrate on getting Jason to the altar, and ignore Anna Meares, and the others, who are expressing disbelief!

Hey, Rusty!
I would hope that the British cyclists are free from drugs and this doesn't end up in a debacle.
It would be such a pity were the widespread success of the GB team to be tainted by these accusations/ suggestions.
I agree with you - and also with what Ros said - that the likelihood is that the success is down to better funding and extremely good coaching.
Plus the determined attitude of the Team to do well for themselves, and their country!
What steps would / should be taken if other competitors are making insidious remarks, like this?
Would the "powers - that - be" be forced to do more drugs tests to check if our Team Members are "clean"?
Laura and the others , if they are free from dope, must feel really targeted?

Hi, Ros!
Yes, I agree with you about more funding , better coaching and more determination on the part of the competitors.
I didn't know that Oscar Wilde quotation - but it is a good one!
I hope your rain does come!
It is getting rather dark here.....rain supposed to be arriving about 10pm.

Hi elle
I just thought it was stupid to be so precise. It hasn't rained yet and I doubt it will, though it feel very like thunder.

Hello, Elle!
I would think that the British Cycling riders who are based in Manchester, (the track riders) are all clean.
Laura should ignore it and get Jason up the aisle.
But there are many sports other than cycling.
But, I would not for a moment suspect our golden hockey girls for instance.
Our swimmers and gymnasts do very well nowadays.
Lottery money made an enormous difference.
Financial doping?
Team GB should be very proud of what they achieved in Rio.
But, I think we would be proud of them anyway, no matter what they achieved.

I agree with you there, Rusty!
We would be proud of all members of the GB team whatever their individual or collective achievements, because I am sure that each one did their very best.
God forbid that we should be like the North Korean leader and condemn those who din not "achieve greatness" and subsequently punish them for this !
Hats off to each and very one of Team GB!
What news of the IOC members bunged up in Bangu jail?

Hello, Elle!
I have checked RTE and the only thing I could find was that retired judge Carroll Moran is holding an inquiry into the shenanigans of the OCI.
Nothing about the Bangu inmates.
And also, I am sure you will be very glad to know that Chicago Rose has been voted Rose of Tralee 2016, and she seems to be a very nice lady!
I cannot access the osprey site for some reason.
I have only saw a crow all day!

Hi, Rusty!
Goodness, it is so hot - and this despite having two fans going all day in our lounge!
I can foresee a disturbed night ahead!
Roll on a thunderstorm!
I have heard of the Rose of Tralee festival!
Did you watch the new Egghead show..."Make Me an Egghead"?
There is something very strange going on with their Leader Board.........
There should be three names on it after tonight's episode......but there are only two and these keep changing......
Weird!
Of no particular note...but weird all the same!
I have done very little all day, being completely "done in" by this heat!
How about you - you have had it cooler - did you get out for a walk?
Oh, I meant to ask- how did the Road Bridge celebrations go at the weekend?

Hello, Elle!
i feel the heat now.
You know the Rose of Tralee festival!
Great stuff.
The Wicklow Rose, Maggie Rose McEldownie, lost thirteen stones of weight before the festival. Amazing!
Have you heard of Lisdoonvarna?
That's great, too!
That's where the matchmakers fix the men up with wives!
Think that Festival starts in early September and lasts for a few weeks.
Elle, I have recorded two episodes of Make Me an Egghead, but not watched them.
I watched too much television during the Olympics and am taking a wee break from viewing.
I find staring at a screen tiring, so I am a bit wary of watching too much.
