Good afternoon, Elle.
I thought Times crossword was OK today!
There was a bit on BBC News about the broadband problems this morning. It was a power failure in London that caused it.
Affected the banks etc.
It is a fine arvo (my new word!) here.
I am wondering about your clue.
A butcher's hook is slang for look.
So, loo+ ??
No I can not see it!

Hey Rusty, are you intending to go to Australia for a holiday ? I thought it might be a Scottish word.

What lovely scenery today ! And we saw a bit of Voeckler's nose - he finished 6th in today's stage I think.

Good arvo, Pigale!
No, I just came across the word and thought I would throw it into the mix!
Scenery was great!
I missed quite a bit as I had folk here for a wee while.
Nice day here now,

Good Arvo, then, Rusty!
No, I do not like it....too harsh!
It lacks the romanticism of "yestreen" or "morn's morn" or "taghairm"!
My clue.....
Butcher's ditcheD thE porK, finally - a big blow (KO - knockout)
The answer is "dekko" = butchers (def)
Butcher's hook is cockney slang for look.
I told you that Mr R must have been in on it!
I am glad you enjoyed the 15x 15 - I am obviously not up to your standard as I have been struggling on and off all day with it!
Very very hot here - my hair is curly!

Good evening, Elle!
Arvo is a bit harsh right enough.
Dekko, I would not get, as it is a word I don't use.
A fine clue, though.
Persist with the Times and it should become doable.
Do you know these whirlygig clothes dryers that some folk have in the back garden?
In Oz they call them Hill's Hoists.
A singlet vest is a Jackie Howe, after a legendary sheep shearer.
Write them in your wee book.
It seems warm here.
Any more fudging going on today?

Good evening, Rusty!
I have a "Hill's Hoist" in my back garden!
Not that I knew that until you told me!
So where have these "Australianisms" come from?
(Or were your afternoon visitors from Australia?)
Our elder daughter has just skyped us to show us the new puppy!
We have been talking for over half an hour and watching the pup play with his new toys.
He is an eight week old Golden Retriever - and he is gorgeous.
He only arrived today, but seems very laid back and settled in!
I guess crunch time will be when they go to bed tonight.....whether he will settle in his own quarters ........ or howl to join them in theirs!
We shall get to meet him when they come to stay in a few weeks. Time to be arranged to fit in with his vaccinations.

Just watched today's TdF highlights. The Sky team is so strong that it's really rather spoiling the race as a contest (though it's a time trial tomorrow, so Froome will be on his own - he's good at that, though).

I don't suppose that the Russian winner today is on drugs?
