Good morning, Elle!
Fine day here.
Samsung have a good range of tablets.
But which one to buy?
Apple and Samsung dominate the tablet market.
I already have a Samsung TV and mobile phone, and I like Samsung products.
The Chrome book replaced my laptop.
Today there is a bit of sport for me.
The Strade Bianche (one of the top Italian bike races) is on, on terrible roads, and I shall be cheering Cancellara!
The Giant Slalom in the Alpine Skiing.
My local football team are on TV.
Horse racing is on, and the World Cycling Championships from Lea Valley, and golf in the evening. So, a good day for me.
I like Saturdays. The crossword will keep until tomorrow!

A lovely day here, too, at present! but we are apparently forecast rain later on.

Yes, Samsung seem a good reliable firm.
We have a Samsung washing machine. I am very pleased with that!
And my husband's previous phone was a Samsung, although our daughter bought him a Microsoft one for his birthday in January.
What a lot of sport you have scheduled ....however will you fit all that in with going out with your granddaughter to buy a tablet, and possibly also indulge in a bacon roll?

Rusty, I've just realised that I forgot to chip in with my support for the view that '...monia' and 'moanier' aren't (shouldn't!) be seen as sounding the same. I think the English predilection for putting in an 'r' sound where none is needed is to blame - in 'fought', for example.

There were no horrors or special treats in today's crosswords.

In a Guardian crossword earlier this week, FLAW and FLOOR were required to be homophones!

ChrisE, that sounds almost as bad as the Sauce/Source inflicted on us earlier in the week.

We have just come back from a walk..... we were fortunate in that we missed the rain!
We were out walking for a couple of hours - just got back in the car..........when the heavens opened!

I see I missed a discussion about homophones again......I didn't find much wrong with "monia" and "moanier", but cannot countenance "sauce " and source", nor "flaw and floor" - and definitely not "fought" and "fort!
(I wonder why Malone thinks the English would put an "R" in "fought"?!)
No doubt regional accents are playing some part in this? But surely the complier should go with "BBC English"?

Elle, I don't think the English put an 'R' itself in 'fought' - but 'fort' and 'fought' appeared as homophones in a crossword not so long ago. The invading R (sound) must be what's assumed in 'sauce' and 'source' - and, I assume, in 'monia' to make it sound like 'moanier'.

Malone, to me '"monia" does sound like "moanier"!
but I don't think that any of the other supposed homophones sound alike !
It would be interesting if we could all hear each other 'speak' wouldn't it!

I'm often a little disappointed in the alleged homophones, especially as they don't reflect the pronunciations of many, many solvers. I find regional variations very interesting in themselves, but not so much in crosswords!
