Firstly..... not much I can do now about the hint I gave re the quiz clue....... I can hardly take it back........I thought it was very easy anyway....certainly not worth a lot of thought.
I will endeavour to remember not to give any more "hints" for quizzes, though, if that is the preferred course of action.

Secondly, I do not know any Italian.... I wrote the word as it was spelt on the restaurant menu!!! I had no call to think it incorrect!
(It tasted good, however spelt!)

No intention of asking you to take it back - just a "heads up" (awful expression!)

As I said, Italian pronunciation is very logical, although not the same as English in many places. If I come across a long word that I don't know in English, I pronounce it in Italian.

It's essentially my only foreign language. I've forgotten most of my schoolboy French, and never learnt any others at school. However we have been to Italy for at least a week in nearly all of the last twenty years, so we thought it worthwhile to learn enough to get by. Of course it is self-reinforcing; we go to Italy as we can speak the language there!

I think I need motivation to have a clear out..........I am a natural hoarder where books are concerned - totally incapable of getting rid of them in case I should want to read them again.
How come that you lose your teaspoons? I could understand your accidentally throwing one out with a tea-bag................but you don't drink tea?
I have just done the Times QC - late with it today.
I thought for a moment that there was a "London" clue, as there was a reference to "Kentish town" - but then I noticed it was a small case "t" and that the clue referred to a town in Kent - not Kentish Town in NW London.
Btw, I misinformed you the other day....most of my son- in-law's family largely come from Waterford; only a few from Cork.
Me and Geography! - are the two places even near each other?
No, not much communication on here today - there used to be a lot of "Quizzers" asking questions, but I'm gathering that this is to be discouraged as the folk in point are disobeying quiz rules in asking for help too soon?
I was guilty of proffering a hint earlier.

I've mistakenly attempted to help before, Mamya seems to be able to identify the quizzes prematurely asked for regularly - she must do a lot of them!

Chris, my hint apparently hasn't helped quizmad....he still cannot do it! I'm now torn as to whether to tell him the answer or not!

I think I throw them out with yogurt pots.
I did not know there was a Kentish Town in London. Why so?
Waterford and Cork are well south.
It is not an area I know. The North West I know quite well, and Belfast.
Elle, the quiz questions thing comes up now and again.
You were perfectly in order, answering. I did, too.
There are no rules of right and wrong on this forum regarding that, that I am aware of.
Being judgemental on those who ask or answer quiz questions is not a burden I wish to carry.
I like to help if I can.

I don't speak for anyone else (obviously!), but I don't like giving actual answers for anything - crosswords, quizzes or whatever - that could win prizes; I don't see how anyone could gain satisfaction (except monetarily) by winning with outside help. I have been known to give hints, though (as you did, elle).

I accept that sometimes questions are asked that aren't obviously prizes; I have been caught out by those!

A dull slightly warmer day here. How is it in your "neck of the woods"?
I have been chasing my tail all morning.......the battery failed on the alarm clock.....I was up late and still haven't recovered!
The dog does not like to have her routine vary - I think the early morning walk is her favourite.
You asked about Kentish Town - other than its being in the Borough of Camden, I really know nothing about it!
The only parts of London where I have lived have been Hampstead and then later when we were first married , Crouch End ( have you heard of that? it's next to Highgate)
Have you fished your trips to the "dump" or do you have more to do?

Crouch End is a name I have heard of, but did not know it was part of London. Out of curiosity I shall consult Mr Google on Kentish Town and its origin.
I have more for the dump but will employ a "man and a van" for the trip in a week or two.
I purchased a lampshade at Homebase at 9.15 and apart from a lady, was the only customer in this huge store!.
Quite normal, they told me.
