Hi, Rusty!
I have just been talking to my cousin for our hourly Sunday evening chat!
She lives in the North-West and has been having very heavy rain and gale force winds - far worse than here. No snow as yet but it is forecast over the Lancashire hills.
Your black ice sounds dangerous... be careful when/if? you go out tomorrow.
Do you have plans to go out? Or will it depend on the weather conditions?
We are due yet more heavy rain! What a nice prospect!
This coming week will not be quite so busy as of late....thank goodness......but on Wednesday it will be our Wedding Anniversary (I think I told you?) so we are planning on going out for dinner.
And on Thursday, younger daughter and I go to our last school Open Day!!
So far , there are two schools that we think are exceptionally good, with another two "reasonable" ones as back -up.
The big problem is that the places are allocated by shortest geographical distance from the schools. The only school that is actually "near" to my daughter is the one that we both HATE!!!!
Ah w ell, she can but fill out her forms with her six listed choices and see what happens........

Could you not leave the "worst" school off the list you enter?

I am on the East Coast and no winds to speak off, although we had a lot of snow falling. And now the black ice!
I hate the stuff. There may be a few broken wrists about.
I have no need to drive anywhere tomorrow, so it will be a walk to ASDA for my paper. "Slip, Sliding Away".

How is your weather? and the black ice? Did you negotiate the pavements safely to get your paper?
We are having a fairly mild spell but with more or less persistent rain - although I did manage to get out earlier for a 'dry(ish)' walk.
I have a machine full of washing to deal with - I think the days of drying outside are gone now!
Do you have anything nice planned for today? - or does it depend on your weather - did you have any more snow?

Had a bit more snow during the night.
Ice still about. Quite cold.
But, a lovely day, apart from that.
Just off to shop in a few minutes.
Then I will think about the rest of the day.
Probably clear the snow/ice from my car and let it run for a few minutes.

I am about to brave the elements - fine rain - to go down to the High Street........I need to buy a card for our son's birthday and must also(write it and ) post it whilst I am out.
I am not usually so on the last minute with birthdays........time has caught me unawares!

Do not make the mistake I made with a "new baby" card.
I put a First Class stamp on it and it should have been a Large stamp.
My friends had to collect it at the depot and pay extra.
Lesson learned, I look for smaller cards now!
Time catches us all up, Elle. this is not you admitting to not being in your first flush of youth, is it? Age is a number. Ignore it!
I was at ASDA. Pavements are treacherous. I walked on grass and rough ground as much as possible.
I got all the frozen snow of my car, and let it warm up for 15 minutes. Not budging the rest of the day!

Mission accomplished!
Card (of the correct size) duly bought, written and posted! Yes, it's easy to forget and be caught out.
I've been busy since I came back....dusted, hoovered and written some email letters! How about that for industry!
Oh and finished my two crosswords!
We are now about to take the dog out for a second walk - the rain has stopped although it remains dank and dismal!
At least you have a lovely day, even if you have to watch where you put your feet!

I won't be the only one caught out with a Large card!
Now, a clue in Times mentions Mayfair. The part of the answer it alludes to, is, "wi". Mayfair is in London. Is "wi" a London postcode, do you know, where Mayfair could be?
That's my guess?
It could also be West Indies, Wisconsin, or Women's Institute, but what they would have to do with Mayfair, I do not know, any more than i know London postcodes!.

Firstly, yes Mayfair's postal code is W1! I didn't have the Times 15x15 today, as I was using the screen shots sent by my friend. It is a pity that he only sends the QC and the Times2 - but I am grateful for those! It is very good of him.
Now, I was telling you about reading a crime thriller by Peter James.......
Funnily enough, in today's post I received the Spring brochure for our local theatre, and - guess what! - there is to be a theatre production of one of Peter James' books!
This is of a novella , called "The Perfect Murder" - not one of his books that I have so far read.
I am thinking that it might be good to go and see it......
There are also one or two other productions that I fancy. A Noel Coward play, "Private Lives" - which I have seen before, but I love Noel Coward so am happy to go again!
And there is a show of the Beatles music. I'm not too sure about this? I love the Beatles - but then this group won't BE the Beatles!
Ummm? We'll have to think about that !
They are also doing "The Carpenters Story".
I wish I WERE having haggis for tea! I really like it!

I think the Beatles show will be very good.
I know folk who have been to see similar acts and came home raving about them. GO !!!
I am sure the plays will be good too, and you are supporting your local theatre. Gives you a chance to dress up, and not be wearing your old jeans, too!

I saw a very good clip of a young Liverpool lad, teaching the new Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, how to speak Scouse.
It was very funny, but the only phrase I remember now, was,
" giving it bifters!"
