Hi, Rusty,
I can't keep up with you! - I thought you said you were using Firefox and that was working in blocking the adverts?
What is UC browser? (should I know?) are you finding this an improvement on Firefox, then?
Congratulations to your son and 'new wife' / long term partner! What fantastic news!
How lovely to have one's daughters as bridesmaids! An amazing experience for the girls to share in!
Our younger daughter (the one who is pregnant ) and her family are away to Hastings tomorrow for the weekend.
Hastings, as of course you will know, is a very historical place, being the scene of the Norman conquest!
It is in East Sussex, on the south coast, so only about 70 (?) miles from here.
It has a pebbly beach though!

Argos was not delivering anything to me or, a far as I could tell, to anyone immediately next to me. I think it got to lunchtime, so they stopped.
I have written to head office, with photo

Hello, Elle!
Yes, I had Firefox. But experimented with Dolphin and UC.
UC seems the best. It has Adblock built into it and is fast.
Wonder if UC means "you see"? The logo is a squirrel, anyway.
There are dozens of browsers to try.
Everyone looked lovely at the wedding.
It was at Discovery Cove.
And I think the world of my "new" daughter-in-law!
Yes, I have heard of Hastings, and Sussex.
I am sure they will have a nice weekend there.
A nice walk along the beach and they can wave to Pigale!
What beach was Cnut at when the sea would not listen to him?
Was that down your way?

Hi, Rusty!
I had to look up Discovery Cove as I didn't know where it was! (you know me and Geography)
I see it is in Orlando - where Miss Orlando (!) went last year with her young man!
And where your son and partner also went later on, so any especial significance in choosing that venue for the wedding?
It's good that you have many photos!
You know, I actually have no idea on what part of the English shore Canute was when he commanded the waves to come no further. I've tried googling it, but cannot find a specific answer?
Let me know if you come up with anything!
Canute was a very wise and astute king - very clever in his knowledge and use of the tides to prove his point that only God has supreme powers.

Hey Elle, what time are you arriving ? I'll meet you at the station! ;)

I just had a google at Ritchie Valens (and listened to La Bamba of course - could not help myself - such a nice voice! but I had forgotten that he was only 17 when he died in that horrible plane crash. What a waste.

Rusty, I shall keep my eyes opened in case I see Elle's family waving to me - if there is no fog !

Rusty

The Canute and waves business is said to have happened at Bosham, W. Sussex, but I have no idea if there is any real evidence for this. I read that the tradition wasn't mentioned in the village until about the 18th century. It may be a mix up with Canute's 8 year old daughter being drowned in the mill stream there- but equally, if that is true then Canute himself probably spent some time at Bosham.
The original Latin description of the event does not say.

Elle, no, they just like Florida, and especially Discovery Cove.
Think this wedding had been planned for some time.
Yes, Rosalind and Elle, I have read a bit about Bosham, and Cnut's daughter.
I did not know any of this and had not heard of Bosham.
Good to learn new "stuff"!
Still foggy here, Pigale!

Hi, Rusty!
Goodness, you were up early this morning!
Yet another dreich day here - very miserable. Still, at least no fog!
We've been back to the vets this morning for the dog to have a post-op check. The wound is healing nicely; the stitches are dissolvable so will come out on their own in about ten days.
So no need to return unless the Histology results are bad.... those won't be ready until early next week. The vet will ring me when she gets the results......and, if necessary, action will be taken then to deal with whatever has shown up in the biopsy.
Meanwhile, keep everything crossed for good news.....
Have you already been out with your granddaughter? I hope you had a good time? How far did you venture today?

Hello, Elle!
Yes, on the go early today!
Dreich here, too.
Splendid news about doggie. Hope it continues!
Just awaiting my granddaughter, but this one is always late!
Not sure where she wants to go.
Just for a coffee and a natter somewhere.
She's the boss!

Hi, Rusty!
Did you have an enjoyable outing with your granddaughter? I'm sure that you did! Where did you get to?
That was interesting information that Rosalind gave us about King Canute, wasn't it?
I had never heard of Bosham - indeed , initially when I tried googling to find out just where it was that Cnut forbade the waves to come further, I couldn't find any reference at all as to location.
We live and learn!
And speaking of "learning"......... my younger daughter has asked me to accompany her around the various Primary School Open Days within her locality. (Her husband is a teacher and thus unable to leave his class to accompany her.)
This is with a view to deciding where to send the young one next September 2016, when he starts school.
The system apparently works as follows: the parents have to choose six schools in order of preference, send this list in to their local council, and then a computer (?!) works it all out as to which child should go where, based on all sorts of (weird ) conditions - like distance from the school etc.
So far, we have been to two schools. I wasn't outstandingly impressed! We visit another one next Thursday.
Do you have this sort of educational setup in Scotland?
