Too many "Lyn/ Lynne" s!
I can see why Chris became confused though because Pigale and I were talking about a book on bad punctuation called "Eats, Shoots and Leaves ".
There is a story with it......

A panda walks into a café. He orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and proceeds to fire it at the other patrons.
"Why?" asks the confused, surviving waiter amidst the carnage, as the panda makes towards the exit.
The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder.
"Well, I'm a panda," he says. "Look it up."
The waiter turns to the relevant entry in the manual and, sure enough, finds an explanation. "Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves"

It just shows what bad punctuation can do!!!

I think I've got that cockney clue.....( possibly because of my two cockney friends!)

Our doorbell, as I said earlier is fixed besides the door, not a part of it (no clutter on the door itself)
It isn't anything fancy, though - it just rings when pressed! and isn't mobile like Jazzy's. Very basic.

It takes a bit of believing.
I had heard of a breve but had no idea what it was.
The Times has a huge readership outside of Cockneydom. Though I honestly do not think they realise that. Too many Londonesque clues appearing.
I have several things to in the morning, but finding a fine haddock at the fish shop is top of my list.
I have written out a wee list.
My joiner has too many ideas, that's the problem!

Rusty, speaking of the different "Lyn"s has reminded me...... Lin (from the Forum) is going to Edinburgh on Friday for a few days to see the Tattoo.
Can you recommend any activity/ exhibition/ matter of interest/ sightseeing project / that she and her husband and daughter might like to take part in / attend/ visit etc., whilst they are in Edinburgh or the immediate vicinity? She is looking for ideas?
I was going to ask you this earlier, but I forgot!

In a word, No.
The Fringe is on just now.
But you would have to pay me to go to it.
Very arty farty.
Between Edinburgh and Glasgow is Falkirk (the speckled church) and there you will find the Kelpies. Everyone I know who has been to see the Kelpies, are very complimentary. Ask Mr Google for more info?
The Tattoo is worth seeing, especially if they have a Norwegian marching band lined up.
It would not be to everyone's taste though.

There are several underground tours of the vaults under Edinburgh in the Old Town.
They are spooky and unsettling though.
Ghosts and Burke and Hare territory.
Only healthy folk allowed on them.

Rusty, the idea of visiting Falkirk is a very good idea. Both from the point of view of seeing the Old Parish Church (the speckled church) and for the Kelpies.
I would like that, anyway, so I will pass that on to Lin in case she finds it similarly appealing.
I don't know her views on Fringe Theatre but will offer it as option anyway. She can look into it and make her own decision. It may well be something she and her family would like.
They have already bought tickets for the Tattoo and are looking forward to attending that!

Elle, yes, Burke and Hare, Half-hangit Maggie Dickson, Deacon Brodie et al. They say the tours are very atmospheric, under the streets of Edinburgh.
The pubs on Rose Street are good too.
Now, the Kelpies. My son and family went to see them and were very taken by them. They thought they were amazing.
Now here's the thing, keep this to yourself.
They were fabricated in Yorkshire!
Edinburgh Castle could be worth a visit?
Many years since I was there.
But I would be hauled screaming to the Fringe.
