I've just got the cockney one. Very good
re: the doorbell, there's a choice of tunes.
No volume control. You could always unplug the box from the socket at night, which would stop the bell from chiming.

...or just switch it off at the socket, but don't forget to switch it on again in the morning.

Oh yes, Jazzgirl, it's very good if you know how Cockneys speak! Like the fahsand fevvers on a froat!
That is good info you gave me, thank you.
I had a job calming my joiner down. He was all for adding fancy beading etc. to the door, but I prefer simplicity. He's a very nice fella though.
He won't drink coffee so I have bought tea bags!

......freckled frushes froat.

I have "Eats shoots and leaves", but I don't see the connection to the battle - is it something else?

Chris, not sure what you mean.
The North London link to Passchendaele is that is where Lyn MacDonald lives,
She wrote "They Called it Passchendaele" which is what Elle is reading now.

Hi rusty
I thought the reference was still to Lyn Truss (though is she spelled differently?)

Jazzgirl mentioned Lyn, not me, and she spelled it Lyn, not Lynne. So, I presume Jazzgirl knew it was Lyn MacDonald I was hinting at.
Lyn MacDonald lives in North London,
Lynne Truss lives ??

Sorry, rusty - I meant that I had seen some discussion on getting hold of E,S & L earlier in the thread, so I thought that was still the Lyn(ne) being referred to - obviously not!

Yes, I did mean Lyn Macdonald.
Lynne Truss lives in Brighton with her dog Hoagy,
but she was born in Kingston on Thames, Surrey
