Morning, Rusty!
I am nearly halfway through the book........ I didn't see your last message until this morning (the battery was flat on my Hudl)
Yes, I think you are right - enough is enough....I've read sufficient now to get the idea - more of the same will not help, but will only prove more distressing.
It's opened my eyes to the incredible difficulties and insensitivities that soldiers of those times suffered in being brave enough initially to fight for their country.
I knew about courts martial and the death penalty but not what it actually entailed, not what sometimes led up to it.
This morning, I've been back to the book and read the "Postscript".
I see now where the title of the book comes from........a very fitting end.
I'm glad I've read a large part of it, even if I don't finish it.
On a lighter note....it's a beautiful day today, blue skies and sunshine...and thankfully warmer!
How is it with you? anything nice planned for the day?
We were going to the dentist, but the car broke down whilst we were out this morning.......(yes, I know... definitely time for a new one!)

Great news, Elle!
Throw the book in the bin! Sorry for suggesting it!
It is a fine day here, too. Seems to be a lack of wasps this year?
Yes, another car seems a good idea, Elle.
It has had a few problems and time for a more reliable one.
No plans for me, but going to a "new" cafe tomorrow with granddaughters. It is on Forestry Commission land and they sell Christmas trees, too.
So, a bacon roll deep in the woods!
BT News is reporting continuing controversy over Matisse/Chase. Ofcom may investigate.
Simon Cowell is far from happy!

It's not your fault, Rusty! and anyway, I'm glad I at least read a part of it.
I've discovered that I have £25 in my Amazon account! - a gift card from a while back - I'd forgotten about it. Must do some research - and I want to get the latest Jeffrey Archer in the Clifton Chronicles series (not sure if it's out yet tho')
Can you use gift cards in the account to buy the 1p books as well as new ones? or do a mix?
More bacon rolls! Has Miss L Plate taken her driving test yet?
I didn't know that Jules used the stunt dog in an earlier showing - had she declared that there were going to be three dogs involved and if Chase had come on the stage at the end, it would have been fair enough, but as it is , I think it counts as cheating the audience and the voting public.
The money should go to the conjuror- or maybe there should be a re-vote between Jamie and the Welsh choir? That would be fairer.

Good afternoon, Elle.
Yes, register your gift card with Amazon and your transactions (yes, your penny books. Have you Scots ancestry?!) come off automatically at check-out.
I usually get gift card at Christmas/New Year and at my birthday. Family warned long ago that I have a drawer full of socks and I dont like smelly stuff!
Amazon gift cards are a great idea. (Hope this is not advertising; don't want to be annoying Norah!)
Miss L Plate's instructor said she should be passing her test around September.
Yes, BGT has been controversial.
I won't forget the look on Kevin the conductor's face when it was announced Cor Glanaethly would not win.
A very disappointed man.

Hi, Rusty!
No, no Scots ancestry! Even though we have Scots relations, the link is not on our side of the family. But of course I do have a Scottish forename!
Well, I've done all that - bought four books , using some of my gift card- very easy to do as you said. Still got some money left!
I've pre-booked the last in the Clifton Chronicles but it won't be out till August, as Doglet mentioned.
I'm reading light relief at the moment - a John Harvey - before I start "1914".
No news on the car- we haven't been able to get hold of our mechanic friend as yet, so the car is sat outside (my husband managed eventually to 'nurse' it home) but it now won't go at all!
I'm going to organise myself a lift for tomorrow morning as I won't have the time to walk to the park to meet my friend for walking the dogs.
I'm still working on organising my husband into positively looking for another car! Mightily sick with this one! (still can't open the car boot!)
Have you been pleased with your Rover?
We need an estate car because of transporting the dog - I quite fancy a Volvo ( we had one before the present Renault; much more reliable!)

Elle, if you husband is in AA, get them out to the car if it wont start. They will diagnose the fault there and then and fix it. It may be that your rear door is causing the problem if it is electrically operated. Could be discharging the battery.
My Rover is fine. I like Japanese cars, too.
Glad you got on fine with Amazon.
You can check your balance anytime, too.
My Hudl seems to have switched to predictive text or something. I had better investigate!
