I have never heard of Toby or his carvery.
The nearest one to me is at Perth.
The Isle of Skye Hotel.
To get there I would have to pass the Horn and the 15 rasher bacon rolls, so I will pass on the carvery.
At least now I know it is not a tattoo shop!

I told you this morning that the Toby Carvery was for meals! I even suggested you take the girls! I also suggested googling it to see if there is one near you?
There is a choice of four roast meats during the week (five at weekends) - beef, pork, turkey and chicken (lamb at w/e). This is "carved" in front of you - hence the name "Carvery". It is £6-95 for the main course (but often there are special offers)
if you gave it a try, I am sure you and your granddaughters would find it a viable - and tasty - alternative to bacon rolls!!!!
Incidentally, you can choose one meat or even have all four!

Now....Junior Scrabble... we had one but lent it ages ago to someone for a visiting child and didn't get it back. A good idea though, I might get another one for their next visit. Although elder grandson could probably play the adult version - his vocabulary is excellent! He came out with 'discombobulated' the other day! Impressive?
Your wallet travelled a long way! I am glad you are pleased with it! I thought that wallets especially were made from nappa leather which I think it is a special sort of lamb's leather?
All you need now is some money to put inside it!

I have never heard of a carvery, Toby or otherwise.
In the mists of time I vaguely remember Toby beer, and it was awful!
Now, on looking at Jazzgirl's link, it appears to be a good choice. I would not go to one though. A quick bacon roll does me. Now, why I thought it was a tattoo shop?
In my town there are several of these places, and tanning shops, often side by side. Usually with exotic names. Often called "parlours"!
Carvery suggested tattooing to me.
A quick rough and ready tattoo can be done with a very sharp knife and some dye, I have been told.
I was never any good at Scrabble! Cards were more my thing. My wallet is stamped " real leather", so not sure about the nappa bit.
They also sell cowhides! Handy if you are near a waterfall!
Apparently folk buy them and use them as floor rugs?

Mind you, if you'd been in the Toby Carvery where we were today (not our 'local' one but the one near the garden centre) you would have been forgiven for thinking it a tattoo parlour........!
The boys' eyes were nearly out on stalks, as the couple sat behind us were indeed highly 'decorated' with tattoos! almost on every visible available space ( and goodness knows where else that we couldn't see!) Very lurid!
Now for a strange coincidence........you remember yesterday, we were talking about Tyneham , the "ghost" village? I was just watching "Eggheads" (which I 'd recorded from earlier this evening) and guess what? One of the questions was which county was Tyneham in?!
Maybe you should stock up on cowhides? you never know when one might come in handy next time you encounter a waterfall??

I dislike tattoos, except Edinburgh's. I like that.
I think though, that carvery is not well known up here.
It is new to me, at least. Is there a connection between carvery and cutlery? They sound linked? Carve/cut?
I would have guessed Northumberland for Tyneham.
Have you visited Vindolanda there?
I hope to go one day. It's a Roman fort on Hadrian's Wall. Possibly an outpost of the 4th cohort of Gaul.

When our son was in the Merchant Navy, he was inveigled into having several tattoos done - they look hideous and I'm sure that he must regret them now that he's in hotel management!
Tyneham is in Dorset.
I hadn't heard of Vindolanda, but then I have never been to Hadrian's Wall. Hopefully, I might remedy that omission one day.
I've also never heard of Antonine's Wall? Whereabouts is that? Near you?
