Good morning, Elle!
A beautiful morning, here, but chilly!
I have been out doing one or two things.
I bought a hot water bottle with a fleecy cover!
Thought I would pamper myself!
I saw Denise earlier this morning on Breakfast BBC show.
She did a one to one link-up with the Breakfast presenter (I don't know her name!)
She calls it the way it is, and that is what I like.
Unlike the mouthpieces like Ridgeon from the IAAF, who wriggle, wriggle, wriggle.
One memory I'll take from these games is Shelly-Anne Fraser-Pryce doing her lap of honour, waving to empty grandstands.
It should not be like this!
I have not looked at my paper yet, Elle.
Another thing.
I did not see coverage of the women's marathon, and BBC do not appear to be showing the men's marathon.
Wonder why?

Elle
In the BBC interview with Ridgeon that I saw, he simply mentioned the diplomatic difficulties and not what the consequences would be. That is why I posted my contribution.

Hi, Rusty!
We have heavy (ish) rain!
You are getting ready for serious Winter weather , buying your hot water bottle!
I do not mind the cold, but I prefer it to be dry!
Yes, Denise is a "strong woman" !
I did not realise that the Marathons were not being shown on the BBC Channels?
This is my schedule of events ... but two hours ahead of our time.
https://iaafworldathleticschamps.com/doha2019/time-table/
Is this what you have been following?
Now, I have never seen the beginning of the daily transmissions on the BBC, as I am usually still out with the dog....
But I think they give a recap first of the previous day's events.
So could highlights of the Women's Marathon not have been shown at the beginning of the next day's programme ?
This would mean that highlights of the Men's Marathon , due to start 9.59 pm our time on Saturday, might just possibly be shown at the beginning of Sunday's programme?
Just a thought?
It would be strange if the Marathons were completely ignored?

Good afternoon, Elle!
Poor you with the weather.
Great day here!
Maybe I have been spoiled by watching the big city marathons live.
London, Boston, Chicago, New York, etc.
I prefer to see the events as they happen, rather than highlights.
I do not know about BBC showing highlights, though.
Maybe they showed the women's race highlights?
I think the BBC have Jess Ennis on the panel later in the week.
Wonder if she'll have a go at the IAAF and Seb, too!
I like Denise Lewis a lot.
She calls it the way she sees it, and as a viewer, I like that.
I had a look at the field for the men's marathon, on Paddy P's site, and recognised only two names.
One was an African and the other was Callum Hawkins.
I think most of the top runners are swerving this race.

Sorry, Elle!
This is the timetable I have.
It's slightly different from yours in that it shows Doha time and "my time".

Hi, Rusty!
I just got the dog indoors before the thunderstorms started!
Absolutely pelting down now, and very dark... we have the light on.....and the thunder sounds to be right overhead.
The poor dog is terrified.
I so agree with you about watching races in their entirety, rather than rather rushed Highlights.
I have suffered from said Highlights throughout the BBC's entire showing of the Diamond Leagues, all during the Summer.
I find it most unsatisfactory.
I am wondering if the reason some of the better known male marathon runners are not participating in the World Championships is because of the overlap with the Berlin race?
They may prefer the better conditions there?
Thank you for your timetable - it saves me taking two hours away from every event!
Now to find out what I have missed in Doha ...…..
I hope they do a quick recap soon!

Hello, Elle!
The weather is still great, here!
You poor folk in the South seem to be catching it!
The attraction of the Berlin marathon, apart from being a fast course, will have been big prize money, especially if the world record went (it nearly did!)
The other factor is, Eliud Kipchoge is attempting to break the two hour barrier in Vienna on 12th October (with an eight day window in case the weather is bad).
He is using lots of pacemakers, including Bernard Lagat, the Ingebrigsten brothers, and other top class runners.
So, maybe that's why it is not a great marathon entry at Doha, apart from the heat and starting at midnight!
There was a bit in The Times about what Michael Johnson said about Coe.
The BBC said it was a "private conversation" between Michael and Gabby!

Good evening, Rusty!
It is still raining, but thankfully the thunder has abated.
I never did get back to the television to catch up on what was happening with the Athletics.
During the storms, the TV started to make popping and screeching noises, and also the screen picture became distorted.
I though it advisable to switch off the set!
Did I miss anything of interest?
I shall switch it back on again, once I have posted this , and see what is happening now.
I did not know about Eliud Kipchoge's scheduled attempt to break a record....
Yes, that might well contribute to the lack of enthusiasm for the Doha marathon.
Well done the BBC for sticking up for Michael!

Hello, Elle!
A pity about your weather!
Very strange about your TV?
Maybe power surges?
Nothing of much interest at Doha, there will be this evening though.
I was listening to Paula Radcliffe talking to Gabby.
She talks sense!
No sign of Michael!
This is Kipchoge's second attempt and the preparation for it is awesome!
He will have to run the equivalent of 17 seconds for 100 metres all the way!
I think they are using cyclists to hand him his drink bottles so he won't have to slow down at a drinks station.
It is being shown live on YouTube.

Are you watching through a dish, elle? Our picture breaks up when it rains hard, sometimes.
