Good evening, Rusty!
I am exhausted!
I have spent some considerable time this afternoon discussing the Outlook situation with various Microsoft staff members.......the 'service engineer' is their last resort!
No, I have not yet communicated with him....I shall need to access my husband's email account in order to "converse" with the engineer....
All correspondence will have to take place through my husband's account.
I shall need to keep a check on that to see when a relevant email comes through.
I am puzzled as to why you don't have a Junk Box?
In my innocence ( or should that be ignorance?) I had thought that everyone had an Inbox, Sent Items, Drafts, Junk Mail, and Deleted Items box? plus whatever subfolders they might have created?
I have always had these with my Hotmail account.
I've just had an hour long chat with my daughter, who promises me her assistance at some stage!
Is your son visiting you this evening, its being Thursday?

Hello, Elle!
I have discovered an Inbox/Junk, but I have never used it.
It is empty.
I've a Trash box, too.
I don't know anything about subfolders.
I suspect my system is much simpler than yours.
Yes, my son was here.
Had a good chat!

Hi, Rusty!
I'm glad that you and your son had a good time, chatting.
Very nice to have him living so close to you.
Yes, your email system does sound much simpler than (was!) mine.
I should like a similar set- up again....it has previously always worked well for me.
I do use email a lot......
Right, update.......I have (or rather my husband has) now received an email from the "service engineer".
The engineer wants full details - do these guys not talk to each other? or keep records on their computer?
He asks me to clarify whether I am using Outlook.com via a Web Browser , or if I have client Outlook installed on my computer?
I of course use it via Microsoft Edge.
I wonder what difference it makes which method I use?
I shall reply tomorrow...I have shot my bolt today!

Hello, Elle!
I rarely send emails.
Possibly one a month is all.
I do receive several each week, though, from eBay.
So a simple system suits me.
I would emphasise to your man that it was working fine until the Outlook update.
That would appear to be the source of the problem.
He may need to know which Windows system you run, too?
I am glad I have left Windows behind me!

Hi, Rusty!
Ah, I get a lot of letters, plus shorter to-and-fro "chats", every day by email.
So I do need it to be efficiently up and running.
I have gone over all the issues , vocally , so many times today, that I shall have no trouble outlining the problem to the service engineer tomorrow!
I only hope I can follow his explanations...if indeed he has any!
Fingers crossed - but don't risk holding your breath - that this can be resolved satisfactorily.

.....And if I have to count one more shop front, telegraph pole, bridge ,car, boat , or fire hydrant......you will hear me scream, all the way from Dundee!

Good morning, Elle!
A fine dry start to the day here.
It looks like you really need your email service fixed!
Or, get a new email client that is less hassle.
You use yours much more than I do.
Hope your service engineer can help you!

Hi elle
I've noticed your Outlook problems. It's an old Email client, barely supported any more. My wife still uses it occasionally for doing fern group Emails, but apart from that we use a web-based client (mail.yahoo.com), or sometimes Gmail.

Hello, Cerasus.
That happens to me, too, "disappearing" post.
There is a glitch in the system.
With me it happens every tenth post.
If you edit to "newest" posts first, it works properly.

Good morning, Rusty!
It is a lovely sunny day here,,...,and very mild!
I am just back from my walk.
I am not looking forward to my dealings with the service engineer.
For starters, I have the problem that he can only contact me through my husband's email address.....
I shall have to email him the relevant details, and then ask him to telephone me if he wishes to guide me through any remedial processes, as I will need to be back on my own email site for that
It all seems very complicated!
I foresee a depressing day ahead.....!
How about you?
What are you up to?

Hello, Chris!
Microsoft Outlook took over Hotmail a few years ago...and I have never much liked it.
But I would have thought it to be fairly important and well-supported?
Microsoft is a very big umbrella!

Thank you, Cerasus!
I have saved that in Favourites .......
My main concern at the moment is to recover my missing Folders.
Then I shall consider what to do about a future email set-up.
