Hi, Rusty!
Perhaps Denise has been too busy with her fourth child to worry about her hair!
Apparently, at 45, she has relatively recently had a baby - she was talking about nappies at the start of the Athletics programme!
You are going to see Miss O'Hara and her mum and dad tomorrow , aren't you?
You will have to fit in your Sports viewing around your family visit!
Early walk tomorrow for me......
And then I can spend the rest of the day watching the Athletics!!
Well, maybe just another (quick) dog walk in the afternoon.....

Good afternoon, Rusty!
I hope you had a good time visiting your family this morning?
It has been chaotic here!
About 11.30 last night, I heard a dripping sound coming from the kitchen diner....
I went to investigate and water was dripping through the central light over the dining table....
The "dripping" rapidly turned into a cascade of water........and a huge portion of the ceiling came down!
The water didn't stop coming down, despite our turning off the indoor stopcock, so we resorted to turning off the water at the point outside in the street.
Lordy, what a mess!
I rang the Insurance company who sent out an emergency plumber ASAP.
The problem is that the flexible hose, attached to the hot tap on the bath, had perished!
The plumber capped the leak for the time being, and is coming back late this afternoon to replace both hot and cold hoses.
An emergency electrician is on his way now to ensure that the light and wiring will be safe.
I shall also have to get in touch with the builders about repairing the ceiling
I have contacted the Buildings Insurance to find out due procedures....what to do, and when etc.
I got to bed at 4.45am and was up again just before 8am!
My Goodness, what a night ...and following day!

Good day, Elle!
Fine day here, a bit unexpected!
And slightly warm, too.
I am just home from visiting my family
All is well with them.
They are going to the cinema later.
Think I am home for the day now.

Good afternoon, Elle!
That's a right calamity that's befallen you!
Will the insurance company co-ordinate the repairs and the various tradesmen who will be involved in getting you back to normal again?
Think that would be best?
Anyway, nobody hurt or anything, so that's a blessing.
Let's hope it won't take too long to get the jobs completed!

Hi, Rusty!
Whew! What a business!
But the Insurance company has been very helpful with tradesmen's contact details and so forth......
It seems likely that the initial leak, and subsequent "mend" will not be covered by the Insurance as the cause was "flexible hose " perishment.
But we have been given the all clear on the electrics.......so that is one thing to cross off my list.
However, I am assured that we shall be compensated for the repair of the ceiling , which will be a massive job, as another huge chunk has come down since my earlier post to you!
I think the remainder is now safe.
I am going to phone our builder friends on Monday!
But at least neither of us, nor the cat or dog was injured .....which is the main thing.
This is a far cry from my supposedly peaceful day of watching the (eagerly anticipated) Athletics!
Have you been watching? Anything of note to report?

Thanks Ros and Chris!
You should see the state of the "perished" flexible pipe.
I am thinking of having it framed!

Hello, Elle!
I did wonder about the flexihose.
About what the insurance company would think, if it should have been replaced some time ago, or not.
I think the insurers will have to "OK" your builder friends as competent to do the repair?
Have you asked them, or how does it work?
I have not seen any athletics today.
I watched the first of this year's one day classic bike races, in Belgium.
A win for Zdenek Stybar. Sagan was not riding.

Elle, sorry but I have just only now looked in on the PCT.

I can't even start to imagine the mess you must be living in at present!
As you say though, neither you or your husband nor the pets got
hurt so that's a blessing - I cannot bear to think of what might
have happened had the ceiling collapsed just an hour before it did!

I don't quite understand why the insurance does not cover for
the mend of the hose, but I guess the main thing is that they cover
the costs of electrics and also the rebuilding?

Good you were still up and about though!
