My daughter has just phoned me, so I asked her about the "What's App" and told her of the problems you had with the set up. I've said that we're just interested now in sussing it out ( without wanting to use it), and she said she'd look into it and report back.
She says that she thinks it can work without a SIM card- although I cannot see how?
But she think you are probably right in thinking that you would require a second account .
I'll get back to you about it if she come up with anything. It would be good to get to the bottom of it!

Elle, it was only a wee experiment with WhatsApp.
Not to worry. But there may be a way round it.
I am still gobsmacked at the capabilities of the Cloud, so who knows what is possible!
But, I got alerts on my WhatsApp app (?) on my phone from the fine folks at Mountain View, in case an intruder was trying to access my account. May have had something to do with "retry in 14 hours and 29 minutes" carry on? A security precaution?
That is when I uninstalled it on Hudl.

Yes, a fine evening here and a lot of giggling with my granddaughter this afternoon, and we are heading out tomorrow again!

It's good you enjoyed your time with your granddaughter and that you are off again tomorrow! The girls will have been missing you whilst you spent so much time watching Le Tour!
I'm feeling very much a "dinosaur"! Here are you talking about the Cloud ( about which I know nothing?) and there am I insisting on sticking to a "prehistoric" phone!!
I feel 'safe' with one that simply rings (!) - can you understand that? Does it sound crazy?
I feel threatened by technology that I do not understand!
Er...... why should I have heard from the Palace? (What am I missing here?)

Elle, I too prefer the 'archaic' type of phones ! and the bigger the better. I hate the ones that are so small that I can't feel I am holding anything.

Another point, regarding portable computers - I only like those with a large keyboard - the larger the better; I am a touch-typist (I was a P/A secretary) and I cannot type properly on something that is no bigger than a small tissue ! Is there any hope for me ?

Elle, the best thing I ever did was get a phone, after dodging them for years.
My son gave me his old Sharp clamshell one, and I have never looked back. All the family are just a text message away and that is important to me.
But I much prefer the modern phones.
I am a fan of the Cloud!
I store my photos, addresses, phone numbers, calendar entries etc in the Cloud. And the beauty of all this Cloud is, if someone sends a photo to me on my phone it automatically gets sent to my laptop and Hudl, too, and gets stored in the Cloud. All free!

That is a term for Irish Royalty like Maureen O'Hara and Enya.
I would hate to think of you on bread and water in the Tower and missing the cycling at the weekend!

It's a beautiful day here - blue sky and sunshine; temp supposedly 13C at 8am when I went out.
What is like in your part of the world?
Now, speaking of the Tower of London........this is my most favourite 'tourist attraction'! I love taking visitors to see the Tower. Last time we went was two years ago when we took the Scottish contingent! The boys - then 8 and 15 - loved it.
You may know that there are ravens at the Tower?
There is a legend that the Tower must be protected by a minimum of six ravens or else the monarchy will fall.
The 'royal' ravens are put in a protective enclosure and locked up at night to safeguard them.
(It may be one of my favourite places but I'm not keen on the bread and water diet you are describing! I will not refer to Her Majesty as 'herself' again!)

Nice morning here too, though a little cool for the season around this part of the country - just 22C. We are due for more heat from Saturday onwards.

We still haven't had a lot of rain though, a few sprinkles but not enough to do real good to the gardens, thus the lawns are looking almost yellow; It saves the mowing but is not as attractive. (though it does not stop the weeds from growing !)

The farmers are going through gallons of water in their cereal fields - maize in particular. Just as well we had a lot of rain and some snow in the winter to replenish the underground water reserves.

Here is for my bit of useless info for this morning !!!

I believe an excess of six ravens is kept in case disaster strikes. A year or two ago, a fox caught and killed two of them before they could be safely secured for the night.
Fortunately, there were eight ravens in residence at the Tower at that time, so there was still the requisite six remaining to preserve the Monarchy!

I am gobsmacked about Googles' headquarters being at Mountain View! What/ where exactly is this place, then? I'd never heard of it until you mentioned it? (it's a bit like two buses coming along at once.... a somewhat mixed metaphor, but you know what I mean!)
