Good evening, Elle!
Well done on your efforts today!
You (all of us) learn something every day cracking the puzzles.
So, one Finals puzzle done, eight to go!
Your daughter is fortunate to work from home when need be!
I had my tea earlier.
Macaroni and cheese, and a Pink Lady!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, the 'working from home' option was one of the reasons my daughter chose this job!
The firm is quite content for its staff to work from home should the children be ill, or some such similar scenario.
I think it is a good policy...given such considerate leeway, I imagine it will be repaid with loyalty and diligence.
A sensible move.
Now...I am assuming here that your "pink lady" is an apple.....and not a cocktail.....otherwise "blootering" might come to mind....!
(See, I knew there was a way to bring the word into the conversation!)
Oops, I still haven't got around to watching "Eggheads"....

Hello, Elle!
It seems to be a sound policy!
My Pink Lady is an apple!
No getting blootered up here.
I am a "glass of water" man!
Have you tried out "blootered" on any of your friends?
I hope Pigale got on OK today.
I am sure she did!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I know you like red apples!
No, I have had no opportunity to use "blootered".....I shall have to add it to my little black book.....
I too have been thinking about Pigale.......hoping that all went well.
I feel sure that it did, and that she will be home tomorrow, or, failing that, early on Friday.
A (middle-aged) challenger on "Eggheads" mentioned having had two stents fitted recently, and said that he was advised to get back to playing football regularly!
I shall have to teach Pigale my newly acquired "heel-kick" skills!
There was a question about "John Muir" tonight!

Hello, Elle!
Yes, Pigale will be fine and will update us when she is good and ready.
Did you get the "John Muir" question right?
I have read his, "My First Summer in the Sierra" quite a few years ago.
It was set in the Yosemite Valley in California.
Maybe tomorrow there will be a question about being "blootered"?
Why ever not, indeed!

Hi, Rusty!
I hadn't realised, when you mentioned wanting to read a biography of John Muir, that you had read some of his books.
That will make the biography all the more relevant and interesting for you.
Have you found a suitable book about him, yet?
I cannot remember the quiz question concerning him, or I would repeat it for you.
One of the brothers from the building firm that recently did all that work for us popped round to see us this morning.....
He brought their Christmas calendar!
I think this is the earliest we have ever received a Christmas greeting!
Would that I were ever that well prepared!

Good morning, Elle!
I think it's cloudy out, still dark.
It is a few years since I read John Muir's book.
I enjoyed it.
I am just looking for a good book about him and will add one to my list when one appeals to me.
My local paper published a mini-booklet of all the local events and shows etc, that are taking place in town, up to New Year's Day.
I'll give it to the young ones.
There is a plethora of spam today!

A Very Good morning to you, Rusty!
It is a dampish day here......but feeling warmish.
I am just back from my walk, with a somewhat muddy dog.
I think I must miss most of the spam by the time I come home and log on here?
Norah has obviously been hard at work.
I am about to go and change out of my dog walking gear....
A friend is coming over, and later we are going out for lunch.
I have no idea where, as yet....we shall decide that as noon approaches!
I hope the crossword is a tad easier today!

Hello, Elle!
It's a great day here now!
Our weather is forecast to be cold next week, with snow!
There was a large amount of spam when I looked in earlier.
Hope you enjoy the lunch.
Yes, I think the puzzle is easier today.
2d, and 10a, are new to me, and 19d.
And I think I have 11a correct, although I have no idea who Sir Tristram is/was.
My favourite today is 13a !
