Hello, Malone.
Collins has "agism" in second paragraph.

Rusty, thanks for the Oxford link. Merriam Webster and Collins both have 'agism', but don't list it as American. One just says 'a less common spelling'.

Hello, Elle!
I did not know Miss ATW and Miss O'Hara were going!
The other two did not let on!
Elle, you did very well with the puzzle.
In future you may well come across East German/Ost again and are likely to remember it.
It appears to me, that "agism" is an acceptable spelling.
So too, is "agist".
I think Katie goes at around 7.40.
I am wondering what colour her hair will be.
Could be any shade between bright green to orangey/purple!

Hello, Malone.
I seem to remember that it is Collins Dictionary, that The Times setters and editor are guided by.
I am sure I read that somewhere years ago.

Thanks for that, Rusty - interesting stuff. I used to have a Collins, but I didn't like it - I think that might have been because it had three columns to a page!

Hi, Rusty!
Ah, I feel better now that I have eaten dinner........
Breakfast was a long time ago...and lunch went by default!
How did Katie do?
(That reminds of a series of children's books that I read as a child.
"What Katy Did" by Susan Coolidge)
And what colour was her hair?!
I am tackling the Times Jumbo Cryptic...
I don't often do it, but thought this week that I would have a go.....

Good evening, Elle!
Katie was beaten by Lisa Brennauer of Germany.
No excuses, Lisa was the best rider today.
Katie's hair was mostly brown but green at the back.
The Jumbo Cryptic is a good puzzle.
I give mine to my neighbour every week.
She takes it to hospital for staff and patients to do.
I do have several books of the Times Jumbo Cryptic Puzzles though.

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, the Jumbo Cryptic is a good puzzle, but a tad too long for me!
I shall put it aside now to finish tomorrow .......
I was hoping that at least one of my new books might arrive today......but no......
Mind you, I have been enjoying having a re-read of one or two "favourites" .....
But some new material would be good!
How are you getting on with your book about the "Iolaire?

Hello, Elle!
I gave up on the Jumbo years ago because it was too much of a slog.
A very good puzzle but took up far too much of my time.
So now I give it to the nurse for the hospital every week.
I have put "Iolaire" to one side for now.
It is a good book.
