Hi, Rusty!
Whew, what an afternoon I have had!
I am sorry for my lack of communication......
My computer has been down, and I have only just been able to access anything again.
A nightmare!
It is a good job that I shall have a resident computer expert (elder daughter) staying here for a week, from Sunday.
I obviously need taking in hand!
I was beginning to feel desperate.....no contact with the World!
How are you? What have you been doing all day?

Hello, Elle!
Welcome back to the World!
Yes, hopefully your daughter will gee things up with your computer.
They are a blasted nuisance when they misbehave.
I have just started my book "Famous 1914-1918".
It is another very well written book by Richard van Emden.
I've read the first two chapters,on AA Milne, and George Mallory.
Have you heard of them?
I heard a rather disturbing story about Laura Muir earlier.
She has teamed up with a coach from the Nike Oregon Project.
I am not sure that is a very intelligent move by Miss Muir!
She has, in the past, refused to speak to Genzebe Dibaba because she was with a Nike Oregon coach, and now she is doing the same thing?
When this was mentioned to her today, she said, "don't worry!"
I do not like this, at all!

Hi, Rusty!
Well now, the air has been a bit blue here, as I blamed my poor husband for my computer problems!
He spent an inordinate amount of time very kindly trying to fix the printing problem with the PDF files.......which unfortunately still has not been resolved.
And for his pains, I got cross with him because in the process, it obviously messed up my computer!!!!
Yes, I know A.A. Milne very well........he of "Winnie the Pooh" fame , plus various poems, including those about "Christopher Robin".
I have the entire collection of "Winnie the Pooh" stories - a boxed set - sitting on my bookshelves!
And George Mallory disappeared when climbing Everest!
Jeffery Archer (one of my favourite authors) wrote a book based on this, called "Paths of Glory".
Have you read it?
That is disturbing news about Laura in view of all she has said previously about certain coaches.
I wonder what prompted this?

Good evening, Elle!
Now, now, Elle, you can't be getting on to your husband when he is trying his best to help you!
Fair play, now, Elle! No bullying!
Maybe best leave it until your daughter arrives?
Yes, they have since found Mallory's body, though.
And his daughter believes he summitted Everest.
He said he would place a photo of his wife on the summit and there was no photo found on his body.
That is his daughter's logic.
I don't think Sandy Irvine's body has been recovered yet.
And I see a book on Amazon all about it, and shall purchase it.
The next two chapters are, Arnold Ridley, and Ralph Vaughan Williams.
I did read a Jeffrey Archer book a long time ago.
I think it was short stories. Would that be right?
And it was very good!
Laura says she is staying with Andy Young, her long time coach, but this new coach is for "strength and conditioning".
She will use video link to communicate with him and is not going to Oregon.

Hi Rusty!
I wasn't really mad at my husband!
And anyway, he has more than made up for it since, as....guess what?.......he has fixed my Hudl!
Unbeknown to me, he ordered a replacement battery, and has put it in the tablet and presented me with a now working model!
How about that?
Isn't that nice of him?
I am very pleased as I had thought the tablet was a "write-off"!
I don't know who Sandy Irvine is?
I think that Arnold Ridley was in "Dad's Army"...... although I am struggling to remember whom he played?
Yes, Jeffrey Archer did write some short stories, although I thought his full-length books were much better, and far more enjoyable.
You should read them - I think you would enjoy them
Three ospreys?
Could it possibly be one of the past chicks returned?

Hi elle

In my first years of teaching, a colleague was Arnold Ridley's brother. (Arnold was Private Godfrey. He had been a conscientious objector during the First World War, which earned him opprobrium from the others, until they discovered that he had been awarded a Military Medal for driving ambulances.)

Irvine was an inexperienced climber who Mallory (for reasons diffilcult to ascertain) took with him on the Everst assault.

Hello Elle and Rusty,

Hope all is OK now?

It is the first time that I see one of the ospreys on the nest at night -
I think it might be Lassie, but unsure as head not quite turned
the right way to see....

Hello, Elle!
U-turn by Laura this evening! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-5587401/Laura-Muir-dumps-Nike-Oregon-Project-coach-David-McHenry-Mo-Farah-him.html
I am very pleased about that!
That's fine the Hudl is working again!
Save you buying a new tablet!
Irvine was lost with Mallory climbing Everest.
Though there may be truth in a Chinese climber's account of finding an "Englishman" near where the climbers were last seen.
It is not unheard of for climbers to go past/ignore corpses on Everest.
Ridley played Private Godfrey, who lived with his sisters, Dolly and I forget the other one's name, and he had a weak bladder!
I am wondering if Laddie has been driven off?
There were three birds sitting on the nest quite amicably it appeared.
There were 5 ospreys in the air yesterday.
There will be other nests in the area as it has an excellent food supply in the lochs and rivers nearby.

Elle and Rusty,

Did you see my post? Who is that bird in the nest right now?
Is it Laddie on guard duty, or is it an intruder? I don't think it is Lassie?
