Hi, Rusty!
Opps! I am sorry for the delay in replying.... but I was fast asleep!
I'm afraid that was inevitable, as I have had so little sleep at night.......
I cannot see a problem with cinnabar?
Cinna fits with the crossers? and is definitely an old Roman?
He is also know for being Julius Caesar's father-in -law.
I still do not understand 13a!
Now that I have at last woken up, I am , ironically , going to straight to my bed!
I am exhausted......
I must be up early tomorrow to get the dog organised for her walk!

Hello, Elle!
I see a problem with Cinna.
How are we to identify which old Roman the setter means, without crossers?
There are countless thousands of old Romans.
I have not heard of Cinna.
The bug will be tiring you out.

Good morning, Rusty!
A very wet and cold day here!
The dog was soaked on her return from the park.
I have just finished towelling her dry......
I am told by my friend that there is no evidence today of the unmarked white van from which the filming of the street was talking place....
A mystery!
What are you up to today?

Good morning, Elle!
Lovely frosty morning here, with a cold wind!
Saw several cars in ASDA car park with snow on them, but no snow locally.
Why not Google "unmarked white van filming in the street" and see where that leads you?
I think I am home for the day, but may be picking up La Bamba from work at teatime.

Hi, Rusty!
It is so dark here now, that I have had to switch on the lights!
The rain is lashing down!
Googling "unmarked white van filming in the street" was a good idea, but unfortunately brought forth no relevant information.
Despite my specifying the name of my street and the date and the time, all that Google came up with was a load of information about Alan Bennet's play "Lady in the Van".
I have both read the play and seen the ensuing film , starring Maggie Smith.
Both are excellent!
But I am no forrader as to why our privacy is being invaded by little men in white vans!

Hello, Elle!
You are not so lucky with the weather.
Great day here, but cold!
Why not 'phone your local police station and enquire about the van?
Or the Council?
I'm sure they'll let on what they know.
Puzzle finished!
A good one again today.
I enjoyed the challenge!
9a is new to me, though.
Better than wondering about old Romans, though!

Hi elle
Just seen your question about nursery rhymes. I know "little Tommy Thin and Little Tommy Stout", but "mouse ran down" (one and gone don't rhyme for me anyway!)
I learnt my rhymes in Devon rather than Blackburn, though - I've just asked Alison, and she gave the same ones as I just did.
I have seen
..the clock struck one,
the rest got away with minor injuries
but I don't think that was serious.

Hi, Rusty!
Well, the last time I phoned our local Council......I ended up talking to a very nice lady in Cumbria!
It appears that Bromley Council farm out their calls.
She and I had a very nice chat though!
And we cannot ring our local police........we are requested to email them instead!
I understand they are calling this "progress"......
It will be simpler to check with the neighbours about suspicious white vans, once I am out and about again.
I haven't bothered with the crosswords today as yet.......I have been attempting some overdue household chores........
Is Miss L-B having trouble with her car, as you may need to collect her from the hospital?

Hello, Chris!
It was just brought home to me how nursery rhymes varied from region to region, so I decided to do a little investigating.
I am glad to hear that Tommy Thin rules supreme !
I could see no logic in Johnny Green!
To me "one " and "gone" sound exactly the same!
I like "the rest got away with minor injuries"!
A good one!

Hello, Elle!
How are the bug and you getting on today?
No trouble with La Bamba's car.
I am dropping her at a pub to meet her pal for tea.
They are making plans for a trip to Ireland.
Not sure if I have to collect her later.
