Good morning, Rusty!
A very wet one here!
There is a Bromley Primary Schools Cross Country event in the park today, so we are delaying our dog walk till later, and then going further afield.
Now.......I wonder will you be interested in this?
I am in two minds about it?
There is a Steven Spielberg film based on Michael Murpurgo's story of "War Horse", being shown on BBC1 tomorrow ( Sunday) at 2.05 pm.
I thought the book was great!
But will the film be comparable?
I think I might record it........and maybe see how it goes.......
(I can always switch off, if I find it disappointing in comparison with the book.
I am not normally very keen on watching films of books!)
What time are the girls collecting you for the Pine Cone?

Good morning, Elle!
Hard frost here and a beautiful morning!
Just home fom ASDA and put the skiing on.
I noted "War Horse", Elle.
I shall record it.
Spielberg has a good reputation for making first class films, so it should be worth watching.
I have a documentary saved, too.
"The Last Day of World War One".
There were several men killed after 11 o'clock when the guns went silent.
I think it is about them.
No set time for the girls arriving.
They like a long lie at the weekend!
Do you know the phrase "long lie"?

Hi, Rusty!
Still raining heavily!
I did set the video for "War Horse" last night....
I enjoyed the short play of the book, that was carried out at the war commemorations relatively recently.
So fingers crossed that the film follows suit.
You have mentioned a "long lie" before, but it is not an expression I would use.......
A "lie-in" is a more familiar term to me....although I never do that!
I like getting up (and out) early!
I have just been talking to my elder daughter.
It is her Wedding Anniversary today.
I am in no danger of forgetting it, as it coincides with Remembrance Day.
Do you have your beacon lit today?
Enjoy the Pine Cone !

Hello, Elle!
I can't see the beacon from home, but I understand it is lit and a service will be taking place on the Law.
Now, for our further education I am posting Mark Goodliffe's vlog on clues from last week's Championship. (He won!)
I have just watched the first minute of it, as I am ready to dash when the girls arrive!

Hi, Rusty!
*Spoiler Alert!*
Maybe you might like to delay watching Mark's link till later?
There is a footnote warning that these clues will appear in the daily crosswords in coming weeks!
I have "saved" the vlog till such times!

Hello, Elle!
I shall save it, too, Elle!
I have finished today's puzzle.
One or two took me a few minutes to parse but I got there!
No bacon roll for me today!
We arrived after 12 and they stop serving breakfasts at 12!
Just had a J2O.
It is a lovely day here!

Good afternoon, Rusty!
We are just home from a walk.
We avoided getting caught in the rain.....but the dog was somewhat coated in mud!
What a shame that you passed the breakfast deadline at the Pine Cone........but was there not something similar offered for lunch that you could have eaten?
A juice seems somewhat inadequate?
Yes, I have finished my puzzle, too.
A good one today, I thought?
But I still have four to parse fully......
I couldn't see what was wrong with "caesarian"?
I thought it a pretty nifty clue......I liked "incisive".....although I did check the variation in spelling.
Did you say you were going to watch skiing?

Hi elle
It's possible that my Chambers is out of date (certain, in fact!), but, although it allows I and E as "pertaining to Caesars", it only allows "caesarEan section", which is what the clue is referring to. Anyway, it seems I'm not convincing anyone else (though, as I said earlier, see what happens if you Google "Caesarian section"!)

Hello, Chris!
Actually, upon further reflection, I think you are probably right......
Which I find disappointing as I liked the clue!
I tried to find a crosser with the letters M?E?T?E (instead of maestri) but there doesn't appear to be one.
Maybe we can give the setter credit for the clue, if not for his (possible/probable?) misspelling of the answer?

Elle, Chris,anyone... I don't think it matters that there is no such thing as a Caesarian Section - that wasn't the answer needed. I feel the Chambers definition works perfectly well for the clue as it is!
