Samuel Whiskers is a rat, married to Anna Maria, in one of Beatrix Potter's stories : "The Tale of Samuel Whiskers".
I bought the entire set of Beatrix Potter's books for BB's fifth birthday!
One of my favourite clues was 17a: external.

Mrs Tabitha Twitchit is a fictional cat......and another Beatrix Potter character.
She is a shopkeeper and the mother of three mischievous kittens - Tom Kitten, Moppet and Mittens.
The illustrations in the books are lovely.....

I forgot the cycling was on Eurosport!
Had the golf on.
Been heavy rain all evening, too.
I have heard of Beatrix Potter but have not read any of her work.
I have ordered another book and that will do me for now.
"Young Stalin" by Simon Sebag Montefiore.
It gets very good reviews and I found a good copy on eBay.

It is wet, windy and cold here!
But invigorating!
An enjoyable walk none-the -less.
I haven't yet had my breakfast this morning.....
I got involved with sorting something out earlier......and then had to rush out without having fed!
I am now debating what to eat, as I have more time than usual to prepare it....!
What sort of a day do you have planned?
Are your cycling and golf still ongoing?

Dry and bright here, but heavy rain last night.
Have a plate of spaghetti for breakfast, that should set you up for the day!
There is the European track cycling championships on Eurosport later.
The golf is in the evening.
The women are in the "Swinging Skirts" tournament!
There is an article about my local cycling club in the magazine Cycling Weekly, this week!
It is a nice piece!

It looks as though the rain is here to stay for at least the morning.
I had poached egg and bacon (both done in the microwave) on toast for my breakfast!
You are lucky to have both cycling and golf to watch!
I think my sports' choices are mostly finished now for the winter months.
Speaking of cycling.......have you tried out your bike since you repaired it?
Is it ok now?
I have not a lot to do today... a few household chores, a bit more paperwork.... then the crossword!
I haven't had a coffee yet...but am going to make that in a minute.
