Hi, Rusty!
I am sorry to be slow to reply....our plans went a bit adrift!
Just as I was organised to go for a walk, a friend rang to check that we were at home (we very nearly weren't!) and asked if he could come round to visit.
So the walk was postponed......
Now, the puzzle...thank you for your assistance!
I have got coat-tail (as you say, not impressed); Mali; and stirring!
But I would never have got them without your help!
I still cannot see the answer to 23 d?
I have ?L?G
Possibly "plug"?
drink = gulp (reversed)?
but then where does "quid" fit in?
We have had a fine day here - a trifle warmer than of late.

Hello, Elle!
Yes, you are correct!
"Gulp" reversed, giving "plug".
Both "plug" and "quid" are lumps of tobacco for chewing.
That was my last one in!
Even got the "sousaphone" one before that!
It is a bit dampish here.
I was out earlier this afternoon...wearing gloves!
Not so warm here!

Hi, Rusty!
I have resisted even reaching out my gloves as yet!
They - and scarf and woolly hat - are still put away in my drawer.
I am reluctant to go into "winter gear" too early.......
We do have our central heating on, though!
We have individual thermostats on all the radiators, so the temperature is easy to control.
Any word from Miss Orlando?
How is her holiday going?
Have you discovered whereabouts she is staying?
My younger daughter and family are planning a few days away over half term, possibly in Bournemouth or Poole.
Elder daughter and boys are coming to stay here with us.

Hello, Elle!
I do not have a scarf or a woolly hat!
I did not have heating on today.
But anytime soon it will go on.
Miss O doing fine.
I do not know where she is staying but I have told her to stay away from the fires!
You will be glad to have the family staying for a few days!

Hi, Rusty!
I switched the TV on, ready to watch the recording of Eggheads, and found a friend of mine in Eastenders!
He only had a small walk on part.......a doctor giving a brief report to Social Services ......but it was interesting to see him "in action"!
Both he and his wife are actors, but mostly work in the theatre.
This was somewhat of a change.
Now......are you going to have a go at poaching an egg in the microwave for your breakfast?
To have on toast (from your new toaster!)
You can use an ordinary cup/mug...just break the egg into it and microwave on full power for about 50 seconds , depending on how firm you require your egg.
(I like mine runny, so only do it for 30 sec)
I think you will enjoy it!

Hello, Elle!
No, I have a banana for breakfast.
Will give thought to the egg another time.
Quite busy just now.
I have to go to Pine Cone on Sat AND Sunday.
Miss La Bamba is getting her nails done on Saturday and can't make it with my grandson, Miss ATW, and Miss O'Hara.
So, her and me are going on Sunday!
A pal of mine is an actor.
He trained in Bristol.
It is mainly commercials and Health and Safety films he is in.
And some for the oil industry.
He has the Works of Shakespeare on his mobile 'phone.
And a British birds book on it, too.

Hey, Rusty!
Well, that is very nice, going out twice!
Your party to the Pine Cone is enlarging!
That is great that it is now including your grandson, and Miss O'Hara, in addition to the "regulars"!
Miss O'H must have enjoyed her last visit, as she is going again!
I think acting can be somewhat of a precarious profession.........unless one is very good and in much demand?
Another actor friend of mine found it very difficult to get enough work to "keep the wolf from the door" and eventually settled for teaching drama at a girls' school!
I think though that this decision turned out happily enough!
We have plans for Sunday with family, I think...but Saturday, at the moment, looks like being a quiet day.

Hello, Elle!
We hope Miss O'Hara can go, but Miss ATW is going to ask if she can come with us.
I have not heard anything.
But should be OK.
My actor pal goes bird watching in a nearby forest (just across the river) when he has no acting work.
He loves that!.
There has been an unusual visitor to Orkney, I understand, from the News.
A Siberian blue robin.
It is attracting great interest!

Good morning, Rusty!
A somewhat dank day here!
I am home from my walk and drinking coffee.......
I do not have any specific plans for the day.
I am only gradually acclimatising myself to the fact that my daughter is now working on Wednesdays!
I miss our meeting up for lunch ( and sometimes, shopping!)
I guess I have no excuse not to do some housework! (ugh!)
What are you up to today?
