Good morning, Elle!
Going to see the car later this morning!
Have a nice day!

Good morning, Jazzgirl!
It actually flicked across my mind that you may have a "Jazz"!
Wonder why?
Thank you for passing on your experiences with your car.
I have seen several pictures of the car and it looks in very good nick.
It is a manual gearbox, though.
I shall let you know what I think later today!

Good morning, Rusty!
It is a somewhat damp morning here!
It is a good job we had our picnic yesterday! We timed that just right!
I hope you enjoy your trial drive!
Will you like driving a manual again now, though?
Once my husband had driven his first automatic ( the car before our present one), he swore he would never go back to driving a manual!

Hello, Chris!
I have only read a little about electric cars...I don't know anyone who owns one!
You mention obvious limitation of mileage and charging...... are there facilities en route on motorways etc., for charging up the car?
Or are you limited to shorter journeys?
I take what you say about its not affecting you personally but I was just wondering out of general interest?
How does driving an electric car work out financially?
It is the way of the future, but how practical is it for now?

Hi elle
Yes, rapid -charging stations are increasingly common, especially at motorway service stations. "Rapid" still means about half an hour, though - should be timed to coincide with lunch, or coffee at least.

btw grant of £4500 towards purchase price; no road tax to pay (at least for now - I don't see how this could continue if they become common); "fuel" price far cheaper than petrol.

Hello Chris.....
So do you have to pay a fee to use the Charging station- in additional to paying for the topping up cost?
I am presuming that you do, as it will be a good source of income to any one providing the facility?
And how do you charge the car at home? Do you (can you?) use your domestic electricity supply?
If so, presumably you would need to do this in a garage?
It's hardly suitable for on street parking?

Yes, it plugs in to a socket in the garage. I could get a charging point fitted (free, with another government grant) which would charge faster than the 12 hours or so this way, but installing it would involve digging a small trench in the garden and across a path, causing some disruption, so I'll see if I think it's necessary in due course.

Haven't tried to use a charging station yet - I'll let you know if the situation arises!

Hello, Elle!
Mission accomplished!
Collecting the Jazz tomorrow morning.
Been to the bank for cash, insured it, and road taxed it.
So, that is everything done.
Got on great with the lady in the bank, RBS.
She was super! When she had got my money wrapped up etc, she asked if there was anything else she could do for me.
I said I could be doing with a haircut, but she said she'd left her scissors at home!
You are asking about electric cars.
There is an electric car taxi fleet in Dundee.
They seem to be great cars!
The drivers love them.

Hello, Jazzgirl!
I am impressed by the Jazz!
Very roomy etc inside and plenty headroom.
Drives very well, too.
They told me nothing ever goes wrong with them.
So, good to hear!

Hi, Rusty!
Lunch at the Carvery was a huge success!
The food was delicious and the boys had a great time!
I am very pleased that you like the new Honda car!
Wow, that all happened very fast though.......collecting it tomorrow!
You will be like a kid with a new toy!
You'll have to take your granddaughters out to the Pine Cone in it to show it off!!
Can I be very feminine and ask what colour it is?
Did you part-exchange the Rover?
Electric cars sound economical to run and are environmentally friendly - but perhaps not so easy to deal with from a charging point of view, if one has to keep one's car on the road, as we do?
I am being called to play a game of "Sorry"...... a good board game.
Do you know it?
