Yes, Barnstaple (where I grew up) was a traffic jam all summer. There are bypasses now - too late for me to benefit.

Hello, Elle!
Oh dear. Not so good if you are getting threatening letters from Hector.
I made very good progress by telephoning them.
Let us hope you resolve the matter satisfactorily.
The painter 'phoned but his mobile was very low on charge and he will call me tomorrow to arrange things.
Now, must dash as I have to meet a train at the station.
Been hectic the last couple of days!

Good evening, Rusty!
Are you back from collecting your train passenger(s)?
I remember your saying that your Irish friends were coming over in March......is it they whom you were collecting?
That would be nice for you if so.
I am watching Eggheads whilst typing this....Lisa, one of the newer Eggheads, is up against her ex- Science teacher!
That must feel strange!
Have you had time to do your crossword today?
I have very nearly finished the 15 x15!
Right, I must go and organise dinner......

Hello, Elle!
No, it is a granddaughter and her pal.
My friends arrive near the end of the month.
They fly in, then hire a car.
Yes, not long finished my crossword.
There was a "little woman" in it!

Hi, Rusty!
We have had our dinner....I didn't go to a lot of preparation as we had Sainsbury's version of duck in plum sauce, with rice.
Delicious!
I finished my crossword.
There were four that I especially liked......13d: afterwards; 19d: primer; 20a: Yorktown; and 25A: paradisal.
These particularly appealed to me!
The homophone at 16d was one with which I actually agreed for once!
And, yes, I saw "Amy" for the little woman, plus "l" - giving amyl= radical.
Quite a reasonable puzzle again today?
Maybe tomorrow's will be harder?
Although usually I find the Saturday one on the easier side.
It's the ones during the week that I tend to struggle to solve!

Hello, Elle!
Your tea sounds very nice.
I had ASDA fish pie and it was fine!
I can not remember the homophone?
The "little woman" pops up quite regularly.
Today it was Amy!
It was a good puzzle, Elle, but remember you are improving and learning all the time, too.
That may make you think they are easier.
I hope tomorrow's is a tricky one!

Hi, Rusty!
Your fish pie sounds very nice , too!
We had fish cakes the other day consisting of smoked haddock, mashed potato and a creamy cheddar and leek sauce , all coated with breadcrumbs.
They were very good!
We usually cook "from scratch" but it does make a nice change occasionally to have something prepared from Sainsburys.
I'm all for the lazy approach on occasions!
The homophone was "Haig" sounds like "Hague".
I don't think there is any Sport to watch this weekend?
Not for me anyway.
How about for you?

Hello, Elle!
The fish cakes are very like the ones I buy!
And, yes, they are brill!
Yes, there is cycling and golf for me.
And Cheltenham next week.
Next Saturday is the first of cycling's big Spring Classics, Milan-San Remo.
There is quite a bit of tennis on Sky Sports and BT Sports this last couple of weeks.
Pity you do not get these channels.
I was on Paddy P's site just now and took 10-1 about Laura Muir winning Sports Personality of the Year.
A long way away yet, though.

Good morning, Rusty!
And a very lovely and mild one it is, too!
Beautiful out!
You have a lot of (forthcoming) sport to watch!
I wish that I did!
How much did you bet on Laura? You got good odds?
(Is that the correct term?)
I have done all my morning chores long since, and am now going to take a look at today's crosswords before the next dog walk comes around!
What is your plan of campaign for today?
Are you doing anything nice?

Good morning, Elle!
Dreich here today.
I invested a small sum on Laura.
(Keeping my spending money until Tuesday for Cheltenham!)
I am happy with the price.
Just watched Jess Varnish interview.
It appears that BC told lies to try and save Sutton.
She fully intends suing BC.
I hope Jess is successful.
Good luck with your crosswords!
