Hi, Rusty!
The documentary about Cathy Freeman sounds to have been very interesting.
I wish I could have seen it.
I remember her carrying both the Australian flag and the Aboriginal flags!
And although she obviously ran in the Australian colours.........didn't she wear running shoes that were in the Aboriginal colours?
Good for Cathy! a great ambassador!
I finished the Everyman quite quickly today.....four outstanding parses at first - but long sorted now!
Disappointing, as I like to "wrestle" with it for a while!
A friend also popped in, but she has just left.
Quite a pleasant leisurely morning!
Btw, I think I must have missed something about Andy's wife swearing?
Was there an "incident"?

Hello, Elle!
A great documentary.
At Sydney she carried both flags.
She is held in great esteem by all the athletes.
Good to see Raelene Boyle taking part.
She is a middle aged lady now, but in her heyday she was super!
Lady Murray was cursing during the Summer at a tournament.
Lara Gut won the skiing.
There is a British man leading in the men's event after the first run.
Dave ?. I have forgotten his surname.
All the ladies at the tennis seem to wear "blue"?
Wonder why?
I understand about Everyman..
I did the Sunday Times crossword on line and found it disappointing.
Just too easy compared to the weekday and Saturday ones.
Time they had Mr R in charge of it!
I think that is why I stopped getting a Sunday paper.
Crosswords were too simple.

Update, Elle,
Dave Ryding was second at Kitzbuhel.
He was super!
Just so close!
He is a Lancashire lad.

Hi, Rusty!
We have just come back from a short walk!
The temperature has risen somewhat and the frost melted to make the ground muddy......yuk!
Still, no doubt it will freeze again overnight!
I rather like these cold, dry and frosty spells!
It is the "clean" dog that appeals, I think....
Have you been out - or is it still raining at your end?
I think Dave Ryder is from Chorley?
That is only about 12 miles or so from my home town of Bolton!
Yes, I noticed that Jo and Caroline were wearing varying shades of blue...but as this is the only tennis I have so far been able to view, I didn't really think much about it.
If other players are doing so too, I wonder if it is anything to with the "blue" courts?
Maybe a fashion statement?
Just a wild guess......!
We haven't bought our Sunday paper yet........

Hello, Elle!
It is cold and dry here.
Not too bad!
Ryding is from Bretherton.
Is that near Chorley?
I noticed the American lady Coco Vandeweghe and Miss Kerber, were in blue today, too.
Every lady appears to be wearing blue?
I discovered too, that Caroline Wozniacki has completed the New York Marathon in a very respectable time.

Hi, Rusty!
I am glad that you rain ha stopped!
I thought I'd read that Dave Ryding is from Chorley, but then Bretherton is in the Borough of Chorley and perhaps 8 or 9 miles from Chorley itself.
So near enough?
I have just had BB on the phone to tell me all about his 'second' birthday party!
As you know, the family party was last Wednesday, but today was a party for all his classmates.
Great excitement and lots of presents! He was over the moon!
It is nice that he wants to tell us all about it!
I think tennis is on soon?
I have been trying to find out which highlights will be showing....I'll guess at Andy's defeat at the hands of Mischa Zverev?
It would be nice though to watch Roger or Rafa......
I shall investigate......

Hello, Elle!
He did great wherever he's from!
Chorley sounds fine!
Did you see the tennis?
I saw a bit of Federer.
He was playing very well.
Have you to phone your cousin tonight?

Hi, Rusty!
I have only just finished watching the (recorded) tennis........
No, no Federer, unfortunately...only the two Brits were shown on the BBC Highlights.
Andy played very well, his opponent just played better today.
But I was astonished to hear that Mischa Zverev plays for Germany?
I had assumed , from the name, that he was Russian.
So I looked him up......
Zverev was born in Russia, lives in Monte Carlo, Monaco, yet represents Germany internationally.
Uhmm............
Dan Evans was sadly knocked out by Jo-Wilfried.
( How do you like Jo's new look? )
Yes, I am about to phone my cousin now......

Hello, Elle!
What is new about Jo's "look"?
I did not notice.
Zverev sounds like Chris Froome.
Born in Kenya, raced for Kenya, lives in Monaco, yet rides for GB now.
A pity BBC would not show a bit more of the tennis now we are in the second week..
Whatever has happened to Laura Robson?
Never hear about her now.
She was a promising player.
"Scathed" is a word I have never heard used.
Only "unscathed".
Anybody "scathed" in your neck of the woods?
I have heard of "scathing", though.

Hi, Rusty!
Just finished talking to my cousin.
All is well in the North-West!
Jo's hair?
Since I last saw him play, he has grown his hair into an Afro style, sticking up on his head, worn with a bandanna .
He also sports some facial hair too!
He looks very different from my last remembered image of him.
Yes, Chris Frome is a good comparison to Mischa Zverev.
"Scathe" is in Chambers, but, no, I cannot say that I have heard it used in conversation?
"Scathing" remarks though come to mind!
We have a visit from the tree man tomorrow - one of our trees needs to come down- a big job as it is over thirty foot tall.
