Hi elle
Butting in, General Tom Thumb was a dwarf circus sideshow; he took his name after the Tom Thumb you know, of course.

I think I've come across the Moriori tribe in David Mitchell's book "Cloud Atlas".

Hello, Elle!
Look under "general" in Bradford's and you'll find it.
Charles Stratton was a dwarf who took the name "General Tom Thumb".
Yes, you are doing away fine at the cryptics!
I just happened across the Sullivans.
Hollywood "may" have made a picture about them.
There have been at least two US Navy ships named after them.
The USS Sullivans.
Not long now until Christmas!
I am going to the butcher tomorrow to see will I get a steak pie!
Exciting stuff!

Hi, Rusty!
I have been having trouble accessing the forum to reply?
I didn't think of looking for "general/ Tom Thumb in Anne Bradford's.
It never even crossed my mind as being likely to be "covered" there !
Maybe you should leave buying your steak pie until you see what your son may bring you tomorrow when he comes to visit?
With Christmas in mind, he might bring you something "relevant" for the occasion?
Do you not like Turkey?
I have to admit that I do not, although I am outnumbered this year, so have bought one!
(Well, actually we have bought a turkey "crown").
I prefer roast beef!

Hello, Chris!
Of course you are not butting in!
Thank you for the info. I had never come across that!
I am reading about the Morioris in "Return to Paradise " by James Michener.
It is astonishing the things I am learning!
What are you all doing for Christmas?

Hello, Elle!
I am finding it slow to access the forum, too.
I was fine earlier!
My son knows I am going to the butcher tomorrow, so that should be OK.
i am not sure if I have ever tried turkey?
What is a turkey "crown"?
It has always been hen, or steak pie I have had, not so often, a rabbit.
I like roast beef a lot too!
That is the plasterer finished at Miss ATW's flat, and I sent her a blinds fitter up and they got on very well and blinds have been ordered.
If you type "Sullivan brothers" into Google, there is a good photo of them on the Juneau.

Hello, Chris!
Our elder daughter, husband and two boys (aged 9 and 6) will be staying with us for a few days.
So the six of us for Christmas lunch.
We shall be joined on Boxing day by younger daughter, her husband and their two boys (4 years and 9 months) so more to cater for on that day!
Looking forward to it!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, this site is getting very difficult to access!
I have even logged off and back on again, but no improvement.
There must be a general fault if we are both experiencing it.
A "crown" is a whole turkey, but with the legs and wings removed so that you only get white breast meat.
I'm not fond of either turkey or chicken.
Too bland for me.
I prefer red meat.
We used to eat rabbit when I was a child, as it was a lot cheaper!
Miss ATW's flat is coming along well!
When is she thinking of moving in?

Hello, Elle!
I still get a rabbit from friends in the country, sometimes.
I like beef but turkey and chicken are not for me.
I like grilled trout, too. And haddock.
I shall see Miss ATW on Christmas Day in the morning!
May find out then.
She and my grandson are going to their Dad's and I'll see them there.
I have heard of turkey crown but did not know what it was.
I am very unsophisticated!
All week I have had this earworm, an odd one.
Not only is it playing in my ear, I see the performer!
Linda Ronstadt singing "Blue Bayou"!
Last Christmas it was "Little Drummer Boy" by Boney M, i think!
Or was it "Go Tell Aunt Rhody"?

Hey, Rusty!
The site seems to be working again now!
I decided to give it a last try!
I couldn't get it to function earlier.
I am entirely with you on the food situation!
I like haddock and trout, too.
That will be good to see your granddaughter and grandson on Christmas morning at their Dad's.
But do they not live there? I am a trifle confused?
I had Frank Sinatra's "I have been a Rover" in my head early this morning!
I kept bursting into song!
I have Bing singing "Little Drummer Boy"!
And now I am away to my bed.......talk tomorrow!

Good morning, Elle!
The site may have had a temporary glitch.
It did not slow down the kitchen folk!
I am with you on Bing, but I can not stand Sinatra.
I think he is on SkyArts today sometime.
My grandson and granddaughter live with their mother.
They visit their Dad and half-sister frequently.
I have bought a steak pie at the butchers, so my dinner at Christmas is sorted.
I had heavy rain earlier but it is a beautiful blue sky now, but quite cold.
