I am just home.
Been to ASDA for flowers, then on to cemetery with the Christmas wreath.
Had the cemetery to myself, so no chatting today!

Well, I have ordered "Alaska" for £2-75 through ebay.
I couldn't resist......
The book is said to be in very good condition and the postage is included, so hopefully a good deal.
I am telling myself that there are other authors whom I perhaps would not like, were I to learn more of their character and their private life!
( and Mr M did produce "Elly" - maybe his saving grace?)
I have been watching a video of BB in his school Nativity play, taken on my daughter's phone yesterday.
Oh dear, it was very funny! I couldn't stop laughing!

I have had two phone calls from Dimplex!
They would be very helpful if I had proof of purchase, but I do not.
They offered to exchange my fire, because they have no spares for it.
That would have been on a "they pay a percentage, and I pay a percentage".
They told me it would work well in my favour.
But I have no proof of purchase.
We paid cash and I have no receipt.
They told me it is a "LED driver" that has failed?
So, that is the situation at the minute!

The early morning mist lifted and we have had a beautiful day!
The ground remained somewhat poggy though - hence a filthy dog!
What to say about your fire?
It is very good that Dimplex got back to you.
Your lack of a receipt seems to be considered a problem.......
But is the Dimplex staff admitting that there is a FAULT with your fire - in that the LED driver should not have failed but should have lasted the fire's lifetime (as you thought had been quoted?)?
Because if this is the case, then I still do not see why proof of purchase is needed?
The fire is quite obviously a Dimplex - that is not under dispute - and you are dealing straight with the manufacturer , not a shop supplier.
So surely it is up the manufacturer (if they are to blame ) to sort the problem for you?
(I could understand the need for a receipt if you were dealing with an individual supplier, but you are not.)
This seems logical to me?

If Dimplex still made parts for the fire, they say they would supply the part..
They do not.
So they are offering a new fire, if I have a bank statement or somesuch to prove ownership.
I don't.
So, that is where I am now.
They say to contact them if I find receipt.
I am not spending any more time with Dimplex.
I think they are being very reasonable, but i can not prove I bought this fire.
No proof, no replacement.
So.....that is the end of that, and I move on!
I may have a word with a sparky, though.

Yes, I understand.
I think you are right though to see what your sparky thinks about it- maybe he might be able to get you a new LED driver?
It might well be that a previous provider of the fire might still have the relevant part in stock?
(Or I might be talking a load of rubbish!)

I shall be fascinated to see where this storyline goes....
My remembrance of the film is hazy, though, as it is many years since I saw it.

There are any amount of LED drivers, at Screwfix, for instance, but I have no knowledge of which, if any, would be suitable.
So, a chat with a competent sparky may be an idea.
I would be interested in an economic, safe, repair.

I am not sure if I ever saw South Pacific?
I was not drawn to musicals when I was young.
I liked the Bowery Boys and stuff like that!
Keep BB's video safe, for the years ahead!

I don't actually think that I particularly enjoyed "South Pacific."
It was the film that I saw originally, not a live musical, although I have seen theatre performances of it since.
I liked "The Sound of Music" film though. I saw that twice!
I appreciate musicals better now that I am older.
I have to admit to never having heard of the Bowery Boys?
Who were they?
If I live long enough for BB to have an "intended" - he is but four years old remember! - I shall endeavour not to embarrass him by producing old videos!
( although he is very endearing in it...and maybe said girlfriend would love him even more, were she to see it! )

I was a fan of Huntz Hall and the Bowery Boys.
Huntz played Sach in the films.
Leo Gorcey was in them too.
The Bowery Boys were "descendants" of the Dead End Kids.
You must remember them, surely?
They made films with Jimmy Cagney, Humphrey Bogart, Pat O'Brien etc.
Yes, keep the video for BB's intended to see.

I don't recall a Pat O'Brien and I have never heard of The Dead End Kids?
What years are we talking about here?
Could I possibly be too young?!!

On the other hand, it may just be that I have led a sheltered life!
I wasn't allowed to go to the cinema when younger and we didn't have a television for many years!
