Hi, Rusty!
And then, of course, there is Central London, which is the core of Inner London!
There are twelve Boroughs in Inner London - and I think an additional twenty (?) in Outer London.
I have just been talking to my cousin!
All is well up there.
Like you, she has been having a wet day!
She also says that it is very cold.
She is talking of Christmas plans.......I really must start thinking about that myself.
I am a trifle worried about the smallness of my new oven!
It has only two shelves, instead of the three that the previous one had.
I was pushed for space before.......cooking Christmas lunch for ten people now is going to be somewhat of a challenge!
Oh dear!

Hello, Elle!
And the City of London!
A tad confusing!
What about Westminster, is that a separate city?
That's good your cousin is fine, apart from the rain!
The oven is a fine size for your husband and you, that's the main thing.
At Christmas....you will manage!
And your family will understand.
And there is always sandwiches.
Problem solved!
Do not worry!

Hi, Rusty!
I don't think it is quite as simple as providing sandwiches!
But you are right in principle........it is not a major disaster!
( I shall remain calm!)
We were limited by having to choose a new cooker of the same overall proportions as our previous one in order to fit the appropriate space.
But unfortunately the oven part is smaller by far.
We shall maybe cook the turkey and roast beef the previous day?
And do everything else on Christmas morning.....
We shall see.
Last year, we went to our younger daughter's for Christmas lunch,
Her husband cooked!
But this year, everyone (mostly) is coming to us.
Have you planned what you shall do?

Hello, Elle.
That is a pity about your new cooker, but it is but once a year it is not big enough.
Why can not you buy a cooked turkey and roasted beef and warm them up a bit?
Have a look in Sainsbury's or your butcher?
Save yourself a lot of hassle.
I will eat my dinner at home.
Steak pie, I think.
I avoid the hoo-ha of meals etc.
The young ones will come to see me in their finery, I think.
I like that part, but not the meals part.

Good morning, Rusty!
Fell dreich this morning! not as cold though!
Mind you, I should much prefer cold and dry!
I have received an email today from Amazon, telling me that their Black Friday Sale begins today, the 14th, and lasts till Black Friday itself, which is November 25th!
So, a fortnight of bargains!
I don't know whether any other stores are following their example?
But if you need anything...or want to buy anything else for Miss ATW - it might be worth having a look?
I have a list of household chores to do this morning..........
But.......... I shall have a coffee and look at the crossword first...........!

Good afternoon, Rusty!
You are feeling well though?
It is unusual for you not go out at least for your paper?
It is still raining here and very miserable , but I am going out walking with the dog shortly.
I can wrap up against the elements!
Most jobs achieved, and what hasn't been done can be ignored!!!!
Your son will surely do a good job in redecorating your granddaughter's flat!
I am glad that the tumble-drier arrived safely.
I am moved on a thousand years now from the first flight from Bora-Bora!

Hello, Elle!
I am fine!
Just having a day a home.
No paper today.
Did crossword online.
Have had several misdialled calls on my landline.
I keep hoping it is the National Lottery phoning with good news, but no, folk think I am a garage, and am I making progress with their gearbox, and how much will the MOT cost!
Yes, he bought a steamer to strip the walls and made steady progress.
I think the womenfolk are doing the decorating.
They say Bora Bora is the most beautiful of the islands.
Have the missionaries arrived yet?
Michener told a short story about an Australian man, before the Second World War. He could see war coming and decided to move somewhere safe as he thought the Japanese would overrun Australia.
So, he did a lot of research to find the safest place with a good climate etc. And he moved to Guadalcanal.... where some of the bloodiest fighting of the war took place.
Everywhere is not like Bora Bora!

Hello Elle and Rusty,

Hope all OK at your end?

You are not the only one to have miserable weather - Here, it has been miserable for the last ten days! I told you I do not like November!!!

I keep on having various people phoning in wanting to sell me things, or ringing about a survey etc... The problem is that if you are polite, they do not take 'NO' for an answer; and sometimes they even hang up on you - which annoys me no end; So whenever I am not expecting any important calls (my friends can email if necessary), I unplug the phone, and at least I have peace!
By the way, I belong to this almost extinct species that do not possess a mobile phone! (And do not want to possess one)

Hello, Pigale!
My calls are misdials.
Folk pressing a wrong button in the area code.
I very rarely get a "pest" call.
I avoided mobile phones for years and now I would not be without one.
Great for keeping in touch with the young ones, I find.
