Hi, Rusty!
I expect your son is still with you?
I hope you are having a nice time chatting.
You are doing well stocking up on household goods for Miss ATW.
It is very nice of you, I am sure she will be very pleased!
Have you thought about the coming of Black Friday?
My daughter was talking about it today and saying that she intends to buy a lot of her family Christmas presents on that day.
Maybe if you want to get things for your granddaughter's flat, Black Friday would be a good day to buy?
I believe it is on November 25th?
Many appliances can be bought for half price or under..........so I am told!
I am about to have another go at the crossword - I had to stop for dinner!

Hello, Elle!
My son has gone home. He brought me a mince meal!
We had a nice time chatting about Kirk Douglas among other things.
I did not know Kirk was still alive. He's 99!
Nov 25th is Black Friday, yes.
I am not sure if there will be so many bargains this year, though.
Too much trouble in the stores, but online may be a good idea?
I am going to wait until Saturday to see what my granddaughter needs, if anything.
She gets the keys tomorrow.

Hey, Rusty!
What prompted talk of Kirk Douglas?
I always think of "Spartacus" when Kirk Douglas is mentioned!
A throw back to the past!
Wasn't Laurence Olivier in the film , too?
Is Miss ATW living in the flat alone - or sharing with friends?
Thinking back ( a very long way!) to my flat sharing days..........it was fun!
My daughters shared a flat too (with each other) when they came down from University.
Miss ATW will be excited to be getting the keys tomorrow!
Yes, I think my daughter is planning to buy all (any) of her Black Friday bargains online!
I still hanker after looking at what I want to purchase, in " the flesh" so to speak!
Although I am happy to buy books online.
I have very nearly finished "The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie".
I am thinking it would be nice to see the film again?

Hello, Elle.
I think Kirk got an award recently, and we both were surprised that he was still to the fore.
He will be 100 in early December.
I saw Champion but I can not remember seeing Spartacus.
Spartacus to me, is Fabian Cancellara's nickname.
My granddaughter is buying the flat for herself.
Online is a good way to shop, I think.
I have just ordered a book for me, online.
The Snowball, by Alice Schroeder.
May get another couple for Christmas.
You should be able to buy a DVD from Amazon on Miss Brodie?
A bit of news from Nina Carberry.
She will not be riding again this season as she is pregnant!
So, very best wishes to Nina and husband!
Any more developments on the Croydon tram tragedy?

Good morning, Rusty!
A lovely sunny day here - but cold!
But this weather suits me - I have just had a most invigorating enjoyable walk!
I hadn't realised that your granddaughter is buying her flat........ it is a sensible move to get onto the property ladder as soon as one can afford to do so.
Good luck to her!
And you are doing everything you can to see that she gets off to a good start!
I am sure she much appreciates that.
I haven't heard of "The Snowball" - nor the author.
What/ Who is the book about?
That is good news about Nina Carberry....isn't she married to one of Katie Walsh's brothers?
I have heard nothing further about the tram disaster.
But I missed a call from a friend - who lives in South Croydon - whilst I was out yesterday.
I shall phone her back shortly - I expect she wants to arrange a date to meet up - so I shall need to look into transport to Croydon at some point.
Will your beacon be lit today for Remembrance Day?

Good morning, Elle.
Hard frost here, a bit cold!
Yes, I think my granddaughter is wise buying the flat.
She is calling for me tomorrow to show me around.
Looking forward to it.
Nina is married to Ted Walsh jnr.
And yes, Katie is her sister-in-law.
May be a day or two before they move the tram.
The reports from survivors say it was "horrific".
The Snowball is about Warren Buffett.
A long book, but should be very interesting.
Yes, our beacon is lit.
It will be freezing up there today.
The beacon is on the highest point of the city.
On top of our extinct volcano.
Still no snow, thankfully!

Hi, Rusty!
Warren Buffett has been in the News today!
Apparently - although it wasn't the outcome wanted - Donald Trump's election win has been very good for the fortune of billionaire investor Mr Buffett!
(He is estimated to be the world's third richest man!)
I have been on the phone for a great deal of the morning!
I rang my friend to arrange lunch - we have opted for a day in a couple of weeks' time, to be on the safe side - hopefully the trams will then be operative again on the relevant lines.
Then both daughters rang me.
The younger one to invite us to BB's school Christmas Fete a fortnight on Saturday!
He will be excited about that!
Speaking earlier of your beacon....I have realised that I have omitted to buy our poppies.... we shall have to remedy that when we go out later!
I have finished the Times QC - very straightforward .
I shall have a go at the 15 x 15 later.............

Hello, Elle!
Yes, Mr Buffett is extremely rich.
A very sensible and likeable man, too.
"The Sage of Omaha"!
I am looking forward to the book about him.
I think the tram is being removed tomorrow, but no word on when services will restart.
That sharp downhill bend is a problem.
Hope you get your poppies!
There was an article on BBC website earlier which said an Aberdeen family lost five sons in WW1. Four killed in battle and the oldest died of TB which he caught in a German prisoner of war camp.
He died in Aberdeen and was buried in a pauper's grave.
I think there is a memorial to the Tocher brothers in Aberdeen.
Band of Brothers indeed!
Crossword not too bad today!

Hi, Rusty!
It was decidedly chilly out this afternoon -very few dog walkers about!
The weather is separating the men from the boys!
I haven't heard much locally about when the tramlines will be cleared - and I couldn't get much info on Google when I tried earlier.
We are hearing though that some people are now coming forward and saying that there was nearly a derailment at the same junction some days prior to the fatal crash?
Apparently , passengers were thrown across the carriage on that occasion.
But who knows at this stage, what is rumour and what is fact?
The sensible thing is to wait till the official investigation has been carried out, and a judicial verdict reached.
Everyone's thoughts are with those injured in the crash, and with the bereaved families of those so tragically killed.
I have 'almost' completed the crossword! but I thought it very hard today!
Three I couldn't do......two additional ones that I couldn't parse.......
I shall meditate for a while........
I may need help later!

Hello, Elle!
Rain hammering down here!
Yes, I read about an incident on that part of the line previously.
It "looks" dangerous!
Folk going out to do a normal day's work and they don't come home.
It's not right.
