Tempted Greek character loses tan from bone (5)
?A?U?
Any hints?

btw is 7a wrong? It seems to ignore the evens.

btw2 Isn't 4d a great clue?!

The Greek character (think of the contraption that you have to unlock to get to the decanters) then deduct 3 letters

Got it - thanks jazzy. (Does someone lock your decanters away as well?)

......though I don't think the grammar - specifically the "from" - is quite right.

If you "ignore the odds" in "worse marks" you get OSAK or OSMRS (depending on whether your regard it as one word or two) don't you?

Sorry to hear that, jazzy - get well soon.

The problem I have is that to get the answer (I agree with yours), you need to "pick" rather than "ignore" the odd letters.

JAzzgirl. HOpe you are feeling better today. I did not find this Xword easy. IN particu.lar 16 and 19 Across took me ages and I still dont get the relevance of 'listened, understood' in the clue.
